It is not about having a lawyer or not the main reason why people write in this forum. We are looking here for support and having other people going through the same situation and emotions that we experience. Also, we learn about each other experiences concerning the legal paperwork and our timelines. There is a great lawyer here with tons of experience in vawa cases: Sandra, she gives excellent advises and also support.

So please don't say that this forum is just for people with no lawyers, you can't say who deserves to be here and who dont, we are all in the same boat.

peanutbutter ...you misread my quote!!!!

nowhere does it said what you imply!!! it is directed to the Lawyers and not the people on the forum!!!! I am one of the non-lawyer ones myself! i was expressing my disgust from the many lawyers taking advantage of uninformed people and making them pay fees when they cannot give them proper representation with their cases and the filers end up in this forum seeking for help later!!!! So i am going to be nice nice and not spill my whole plate on you!

re-read all my post from the beginning and you will have an idea of who i am!!!!!!

take care.

nardah the bill would have extended domestic violence protections to LGBT individuals, undocumented immigrants and Native American women. Well Uscis does not recognize same sex-marriage then I don't think they will ever extend Vawa protection to this group .

There is the "U visa". LGBT individuals, undocumented immigrants or any foreign person victim of domestic violence or violence in general can apply for this visa. The U visa is for those assisting or have previously assisted law enforcement in the investigation or prosecution of a crime, then I don't understand why to extend Vawa to these groups if there is already a Law to protect them.

Domi-nique it seems your case is ready to be adjudicated. Despite sometimes they mention 30 days, 150 days, most of the times they do not adjudicate as they mentioned at all, but yes after 30 days you can inquire again about your case. Did your congress person contact Vawa Unit? when did you submit your Vawa?
