Hi Guys.

This message going to be very short today. I hope you all had a good christmas. My was not so good.

I had a major problem with my husband and I don't know what to do at this point.

As I posted before I ask my attorney to apply for my work permit renew, but he want to charge me for that and I dont have money to pay him. So he told me to do it my self. I did and sent out the forms to renew it, and I thought that they would send the receipt and the new work permit to the attorney on file not to my house, so the worse happen , and they send me the receipt to my home address , and unfortunatelly my husband is the one who checks the mail box because he wont give me the key for it. So on this past saturday the receipt come in and he was the one who got it, he opened it and found out that i had applied for work permit, so he put me against the wall to tell him how come i apply to renew something that I dont have and what I m hinding from him. I m so scared that I dont know what to do. I fear for my life now and my 2 years old baby. I dont know what to do now. I Am afraid of run away but at the same time I m afraid to stay here and he do something now that he knows that I have a pending case with USCIS. I m thinking about calling VAWA unit and ask them what should I do now. But they wont speak with me i think because i have an attorney on file. What should I do. Please reply to me ASAP if someone have a advice to give me. Specially SandraNJ that have experience. Thanks

K.Menendez,

Sorry about your situation, please do not be afraid to call the cops, please dont let him harm you and your baby,

if the situation gets real bad you might have to take shelter else where, about him finding out about your EAD renewal and vawa application,

maybe talk to your lawyer about what he might do, but all in all be safe.

My friend that lives close by she offers me to buy a ticket if i want to go back home, but the situation is that I wont be able to leave the country with the baby without him signing for it. My fear is that when he come home from work he try somethign stupid because he is nervous and afraid at the same time. that makes me nervous because when people are afraid they do stupid things. I m just scared that I wont have a chance to call the cops.

I will figure it out by the time he comes home from work.

Set your speed dial to 911, do not be afraid of the bully, one thing i did in my marriage that might help is i went in to speak to an officer ahead of time about my ex husband tendercies, this officer was good to call him and warn him that he will be brought in anytime he pulls something this freaked my husband out.

you got to be strong for you and the baby, call the cops file a protection order against him asap.

K menendez if you thinK you will be able to survive financially alone living in your house then file a restraining order TODAY and your husband won't be able to stay in the house with you anymore. If you can't afford to live in your house file a restraining order against him TOday as well and find a shelter for victims of domestic violence. It's ok to be under the same roof with the abuser just when you are looking a place to stay but it's not advised or even smart to be in the same house at all. We have hundreds of shelters who helps victims of domestic violence then there is no reason at all for you to jeopardize your safety and your child safety as well. Find a place to stay today, if your need help finding a shelter sending me a PM ok.Stay safe.

You're in a very unsafe situation dear, and you need to leave as soon as you can. Like Domi-nique said, go to the police station & make a report of his behavior. Now that he's seen the notice he'll be on the alert that you want to leave and it can get very dangerous for you. Please take all the things you need & care about in case you're unable to go back. He may destroy your belongings to try to get back at you.

Good job! Does your husband know this friend's house? If he does that could be dangerous for her. :( Stay safe!

k Menendez do not answer his phone calls or maintain any form of contact, if he keeps calling you, sending you messages or emailing then contact the police to have him arrested after the restraining order issued ok.

You need to file form AR11 online and send it a notarized letter to USCIS changing your address, because USCIS is messy and they don't change address just filing form AR11 online.

Hi my friends.

Sorry that i didn't post yesterday , I had a very bad day and things got out of control. So I just went to post here to inform you all that my journey end yesterday with my vawa. After what happen between my husband and I ,my friend come to pick me up yesterday and we went to the police station to get a restraining order on my husband. the police officer instructed that i had to filled that with the court, so we went to the court and filled out the paper work and the lady that helped us there told me that she would present it to the judge for his approval or deniel and she would contact me to go back by the end of the day to find out what the judge decided.

So the worse happen the judge DENIED it saying that I had no evidence of violence or that I was in danger of him coming after me. to make it worse when my husband got home and me and the baby was not there, he asks the neighbors if they saw anyone coming to pick me up, and they told him what kind of car come to pick me up, so he knew it was my friend. so he come to find me and was upset by trying to be nice to full my friend and make sure i didnt call the police. So make a long history short, I knew he wont leave me alone and will try anything to hurt me. He was afraid that he would be arrested, so he offer me a deal that he would sign a paper for me to take the baby with me back to colombia, but i Had to leave the country ASAP, I accepted the deal for me and my baby best interest, those that have kids out there knew how important our children is for us and we would do anything to keep them safe. So my friend got me a ticket yesterday and I just make it home to Bogota,Colombia. Thank you all for the support and I wish you all the best of Lucky.

At least here I feel safe with my family and I know he wont put his feet in Colombia because he is afraid of my family.

Good Luck everyone.

K menendez,am so sorry to hear that...but l wish you would have waited alittle longer..most abusers will threaten to take your child away especially if they know you,re vulnerable but the truth is,the mother will always be given first priority when it comes to custody unless the court finds out that you,re not responsible enough.they rarely consider immigration issues when it comes to that.its all based on the childs interest.
