If you have a pending i-485 than it is free... just file form i-765, with a copy of the expired one, two passport picture and a copy of the i-485 receipt.

Hi LordHelpme

I m glad that they are looking at your case. Don't worry about the RFE , sometimes they send you an letter like that and its just a signature that was missing in a page or a copy of drivers license, or passport copy. Some crazy things like that you already sent them with your paperwork but some how they manage to loose it and need it again.

Good luck and keep us posted. I applied in December 2011 so I m glad that they are looking at August cases.

kmenendez you don't have to pay USCIS fees to renew your EAD if you have a pending I-485. You must send it copy of your work permit and copy of the I-485 NOA,2 passport pictures as well. Write down in the cover letter you are renewing your EAD and in the envelope outside (right side on the top )write with big letters VAWA UNIT.

I have been lurking on this site for awhile, and I have some comments and questions. We all know that VAWA marriage fraud is a growing epidemic in America now. I wonder how many of you so called "abused spouses" are really only trying anything you can to get a green card to stay here? If you were abused, or your marriage didn't work out, why not just go home? Is there another reason for filing a VAWA AOS? Could it be money? If you have no family here, or culture here, why stay? And if you entered into your marriage only for a visa to paradise, then I hope the USCIS starts cracking down on this marriage fraud so many are doing. I dealt with this fraud years ago, before it was advertised on the web as an easy ticket to american residency, and I think the entire VAWA law needs to be reformed. The fraudsters are making it very difficult for honest immigrant spouses to obtain a visa. Just my observations.

i dont understand the purpose on your comment.. It clearly seems that you got scammed and hurt...so sorry for that...not everybody has the same history... shame on you to say such a thing because you dont know all the things we have been going through...i recomend you to look in other sites or take some literature clases to keep busy yourself

Just want to ask how can I post my timeline here at VAWA Part3? I hope you are all keeping hope up and live. This is not an easy place to be in. But we shall overcome.

Sorry u went through wat u went through but I don't think this thread is for you, there are many threads on vj for u I suggest u go there if u have no support for the people here but then again u might just be a "one post post wonder"

CurleyHoward even if they have no family here they have the right to submit the petition to stay. The Vawa law gives them this right and you are NOBODY to ask them "why not just go home"?. It seems you are an abuser, because here we have just victims of domestic violence and sometimes some abusers trying to disrupt the thread. Leave the girls alone and go to do some therapy because is crystal clear that you have some issues/anger problems.I am so glad that who approved Vawa Law are men and women of good character, and not scumbags who abused their wives/husbands and want the law to be reformed.

Hi Everyone,

So I thought I would write a quick note, introduce myself, seeing as Im now part of the VAWA group.

I married my US citizen wife at the beginning of the year. We filed my adjustment papers in July. In March time she started becoming increasingly emotionally and psychologically abusive, in part due to a heavy addiction to alcohol and drugs. I tried to help her through these problems no matter how many lies I was told. We were married, and my job was to try and fix that problem and try and ignore all the abuse. I had my pending adjustment used against me by my wife almost weekly, with threats to revoke her side of the paperwork. One time she was so drunk and emotionally abusive I threatened to leave the relationship if it didn't stop, to which she just laughed and told me I couldn't leave as I had nowhere else to go, and if I left she would get me deported the next day. About a month ago I started making plans to leave her, but couldn't get very far as my EAD took forever to arrive and I had no access to any other funds. The day after out interview notice came, she changed the locks on our house, cleared out and cancelled all our bank accounts, disconnected my phone, ended the relationship via electronic communication, and left me for dead.

I'm now in the process of trying to figure out my VAWA application to file before our interview date in a couple of weeks.

I don't have any money, so I can't afford any legal help, and legal aid can't help as Im not a permanent resident in the states. Therefore Im forced to file on my own. Im scared and terrified every day, and Im even more terrified I wont get this package in on time. I don't really know how to put the package together, so Im trying to learn as much as I can, get it sorted ASAP, all whilst now applying for jobs with all the free time I have, now that I have my SS number. Im now somehow trying to figure out how to start seeing a therapist/counsellor, so I can start getting the help I desperately need, as well as for my paperwork...somehow without paying for the time being.

Its all a bit of a mess, but Im trying to keep positive, and get through this as quickly and as smoothly as I can.

This is my story so far :)
