Cielo14 I am sorry i didnt pay attention when you said she lives in the same State. She does not need to ask the Court to move out,but she has file for custody asap before he files for custody. She should not hide the kids from him otherwise she will be in trouble. The Court will decide about visitation and child support.

Hi guys. Hope everyone is doing all right. And if you aren't right now, take 5 minutes to cry, then wipe your tears and smile. I hope you can find a reason to at least smile. smile.png

It's close to the end of the road for me I guess; my AOS interview is next week (I'll be updating after the interview), and I'm a little apprehensive, pensive, and really in my thoughts. I've put my evidence together, along with everything the interview notice asked for, but I just can't help feeling a little gritty. Maybe it's the thoughts of the life I wanted to have with my ex, and how life just turned around and bashed me in the head... Ahhh... Anyway... I just thought I'd reach out. In spite of things turning out as far as possible from what I could have imagined marriage- and family-wise, there's still good right now, and much more in my future.

If anyone has any advice for the interview I would appreciate it. Meanwhile, let me find where I posted my timeline and re-post it in case someone finds it helpful.

Edit:

Do I need to go in with passport photographs? I'm not sure why but the thought has popped into my head more than once while getting my stuff together.

Believe you will be fine, just take with you the original documents such as passport, birth certificate and translation, divorce decree if you have one,if you have your 2012 tax return take with you as well, police certificate, restraining orders etc...

Time is a great healer. Do not allow the wounds of your soul and spirit remain, just dust off old dreams and explore new ones. You are in charge of your life now! Good luck

Folks I need your help here, who got food stamps and medicaid and live in NJ,NY and CT?. Some social services started changing lately and I just need to know who is receiving food stamps and medicaid and where? I am bringing one battered woman from Virgin Islands, she got the prima face already, she is a bit suicidal right now and has an autistic daughter, but the girl is not american. I need to make sure I will place her in the right State.Virgin Island is damn small and she sees the abuser for everywhere plus the only shelter there is full.

Thanks sandranj. I will take those. For my tax return, can it be the one I filed, or does it have to be the IRS transcript?

finally26122012 You will find someone who will love you, cherish you, honor you. You were put on this earth to love and to be loved, and you deserve to be in a respectful relationship. The violence you endured was not your fault. You must not allow that your suffering take away your ability to seek love again. Be gentle with yourself, and do not expect it to happened all once. Abusers take away the victims self respect and self image, but you need to understand that you are a human being capable of passing loving qualities to someone, your life is worth it , you are worthy of love. There are many great men out there who will treat you with respect. I am convinced you will find someone kind, compassionate, faithful, reliable, a man who fears God. I found mine you will find yours, just give yourself some time…and a chance, lol

Finaly12202012 did you call the shelter? I called them in this morning. They will be able to help you. Here is the advice to other girls in similar situation.Call domestic violence hotline ask the address of one shelter for victims of domestic violence.Get some clothes, maximum 1 big suitcase and all documents.Leave a note just saying "I left".you have to leave a note in order for your spouse to understand you left not because someone kidnapped you.If you don"t have money to get a cab walk 2 or 3 blocks call 911 and tell them you fear for your life and you need help. They willl send it cops where you are and then tell them your story and ask them to take you to the shelter. TELL your family not to answer the abuser phone calls and tell them not to give any information where you are not even mentioning oh she is safe in a place for victims of domestic violence...zero information ok.The shelter will provide help giving informations about restraining order, legal aid etc.

If she has a restrain order she can keep the kids and move in with her sister and the husband has to go to court to seek visitation not custody because if he's abusive the judge will not grant him custody. She can go to the police tell them she fear for hers and her children life living with her husband and she wants to leave to her sister's house because she's the only family she has in this country. She should give the police the sister's information and let them know if he report her missing them should tell him she leave home voluntarily no more info. She should let the cops escort her Caz she don't know if he's lurking around waiting to see what she's up to. Just my take.

cielo14 she has to get a restraining order against if she fears for her life and file for custody of her children. Go to the police to give her address is not enough, because they won't t even take this in consideration. In Virginia the spouse might leave the house without committing desertion if she the spouse can prove that her health is in danger. Tell her to leave the house and go straight to get a restraining order against him saying she fears for her life and for her children lives, if this is the case. If he physically abused the kids, or threat to harm them or if he has problems with substance abuse or alcohol she can ask for an emergency custody of the children.

howtosurvive she filed Vawa already and she has prima facie. She is from Us Virgin Island ( insular area of the United States), because of that she is able to enter her without any problem.I live in New jersey and the social services in this area used to give food stamps but lately 2 girls contacted me, they live in NJ ,and they were not able to get food stamp, because of that I want to make sure what City around is giving or not.
