Hello everyone. I have recieved prima facie. And i tried to apply for fafsa. They told me i needed a social security number .Then i went to the Financial Aid office in school and they told me the same. So then the Social Security office said i can get a NON- Work social to apply for fafsa. but i needed to do this:

Government Benefits or services: If you do not have permission to work, you may apply for a social security number only if:

- A federal law requires you to provide your social security number to get a particular benefit or service;

or

- A state of local law requires you to provide your social security number to get general assistance benefits that you already have qualified for.

IF YOU NEED A NUMBER TO MEET THESE STATE OR LOCAL REQUIREMENTS, YOU MUST BRING US A LETTER FROM THE GOVERNMENT AGENCY. IT MUST BE ON A LETTERHEAD STATIONERY (NO FORM LETTERS OR PHOTOCOPIES)

AND:

-SPECIFICALLY IDENTIFY YOU AS THE APPLICANT;

- CITE THE LAW REQUIRING YOU TO HAVE A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER

- INDICATE THAT YOU MEET ALL THE AGENCY'S REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT HAVING THE NUMBER; AND

-CONTAIN AN AGENCY CONTACT NAME AND TELEPHONE NUMBER

the problem is the people at the school are really bad with getting back at me especially the finainal aid office!

I have called and went in a couple times!

anyone else here with PRIMA FACIE going throught the same thing? is there a way around it??

Well only people who can write that is your school FinAid office. Try to ask your advisor at school ( if you have one) to talk to FinAid. Trust me you can only get through this way. Otherwise Dept of Edu won't generate SAR.

I think i mentioned here besides being a lawyer I am one of the United Nation advocates for victims of domestic violence as well. I would like to invite all survivors living in NYC and NJ to take action on Orange Day which will take place in July 27 at 2pm in New York City. The event is to highlight the issue of violence against women/men and children.I am still choosing between Central Park and Time Square. I will give to each survivor a orange tshirt with the United nation logo printed "To End Domestic Violence-United Nation". Please send me pm who wants to take part . I will briefly explain about all forms of domestic violence.We have to condemn domestic violence.Inflicting pain on others is morally wrong and a crime. Abuse can ever be justified.

Sandranj can u plz tell me if I can file a AOS and EAD while my vawa has not yet approve. The reason why am asking is because at the time I filed he petition he was only a LPR he has now become a USC. What is my chance of getting EAD approve. Your advice will be really appreciate as I really need to work.

Raga Shanti you can submit form I-485 and I-765 and if you can't afford the fees file form I-912 as well,once he became an Us Citizen they will approve the work permit without any problem,

no, everyone shud NOT get approved! it shud be extremely difficult. why? becoz half of you have entered the USA with false intentions and should GO HOME to your country. If its so hard here then, why not? I hope they make it even more difficult to get approved, to weed out the scam marriages that are becoming an epidemic just to get a green card. I was scammed, and i hope they send her home! she used me for over $50.000.usd all total to get here, then provoked violence, and moved in with her boyfriend. This visa fraud must end!

I don't approve fraud, but in your case there was none, because with your comment you showed us that you are ABUSER. Hopefully VSC follows this forum and can grant GC to your EX based on your testifying of abuse!

does one officially documented instance of a physical attack (by the USC spouse while living together in the US) qualify in itself as VAWA abuse? Assuming VAWA unit is satisfied (for example, if evidence was produced that the attacker pled guilty in criminal court) that self-petitioner did sustain a physical attack (one instance of battery), does VAWA unit still expect production of any evidence of longer-term harm, therapy, cruelty, totality etc.? Or may the Affidavit part talking of the abuse be one-line, one-paragraph?

Yes, in fact I did go through all these hurdles. Just keep on mind " never ever give up and never underestimate any kind of effort". I have got things done through channels people could never imagine of.

They tend to look for a pattern. it is just not enough to say he or she hit me, you need to state how you felt before and after the abuse. How did you felt emotionally when it happened, what led to the attack? Did you report the abuse, to who did you report? Don't focus only on the abuse. Talk about how you met, why you fall in love, what were both your goals as a family, did you want kids?

vawa2013 you have to tell about the abuse , and not in one one line or one paragraph.I think i mentioned at least twice this week about one girl from this thread that her husband was arrested 4 times, she had a restraining order, she spent 8 days in hospital, but her affidavit was just 1 page and she basically did not tell the story and she got an RFE asking to emend her affidavit telling the story,it means if all documents are sufficient there is no need to ask someone to tell the story right?
