Cc1988. It could mean you actively have the bacteria in u that causes the virus that doesn't mean you have Tb but was exposed to it. That's one rational or you irritated the skin where the PPD was planted and it caused an induration greater than 10mm which is considered a positive for a non health care worker or 5mm if u work in the healthcare or any industry that deal with immigrants, this is called a false positive. The chest xray is to rule out or rule positive tb. Immigration can deny u on a basis of commucable desease so be careful. If ur positive they will quarinteen u and anyone in your household and possibly ur job but don't freak out if it could be a false positive.

Not virus I meant disease. And not desease I meant disease.

You nailed it "howtosurvive"

well I was born in Mexico I got the tetanus shot when I was born and have the scar to show it. And the nurse said it might be that. But it's just weird I don't see how they can't determine weather you have the disease or not by your blood sample. But thank you I'm getting the X-ray done tomorrow!

Cc1988 it is the BCG shot that cases a PPD to be positive not tetanus. And if u always test negative until now its not the bcg shot because that causes a life long positive where as is u said u got that shot a healthcare worker should not give u the PPD but instead send u directly for xray. But that's not ur case, this is ur first positive which can be a false positive. PPD isn't a blood test but instead and interactive agent. Purified protein derivative is a protein than when come in contact with the bacteria (mycobactrium) that causes tb to swell and redden around the area where the PPD was planted. I test positive in 2011 because I was doing microbiology lab and dealing with different bacteria including the one that is in the same genus as tb hence the positive PPD at my job (I'm a nurses aide) but when I went for the xray it was negative but I knew before had that it was the fact that I was in lab. It be just a false positive as I said before. Let me know how it goes.

Anyone had to get an x-ray for not passing the TB test??? I passed it a year and a half ago and now it's saying that I am not passing it so I need a chest x-ray

i also tested positive for TB and my xray was negative i had bcg in england as a teen but the dr decided to treat me for latent tb just incase. i had to take medication for 7 months and have my kidneys and liver checked monthly as the medication can cause kidney and liver damage. i now have certified state clearance that i have completed treatment and i will never be able to pass a tb test. i really hope this isnt an issue ihadnt even thought of it until i read your post :-/

A little wise words to my brothers and sisters on this journey that we didn't choose to take but instead was force to take. Remember god give his toughest battles to his strongest warriors. He wouldn't give u more than u can handle. He loves us all he just humble us in different ways. Stay of good courage and keep ur faith he is with us even in our darkest hour. He has plans for our life if he never thought we could over come this journey he wouldn't let's us undergo it. Faith can move mountain. When ever u feel weak and discourage pray and ask for strength because the devil run loose when ur weak. Remember me y'all prayer Caz every time I pray I pray for the world at large.

A lil update . my lawyer called me today and said what we all knew that i need to file for EAD and i485. But he said he doesnt have time to file i485 now so we will just send for EAD. i asked in another thread if i will need to replace my i94 as i dont have it i also asked my lawyer her said probably not since i have a police report filed from when it was thrown awa. i really hope he knows whathe is doing would rather scrap up the money to replace it now than apply under pressure later.

Ukcrybaby that mean when u did ur chest xray they saw the bacteria in ur lungs but it was latent (inactive) hence he had to treat u because it could exacerbate without u even knowing (minor symptoms because u had developed immunity to it) and u could pass it on to other people and cause a wide spread incident. The treatment time could be as little as 6 months to as long as 2 years. The potency of the drugs can cause live and kidney damage because that's the two mode of excretion. They normally treat it with two drugs concurrently. Don't mean to scare u cc1988 but was responding.

Sorry for the lecture. Medicine is my passion!

Ukcrybaby I believe in order to file i765 u need to have a pending i485 and what ur lawyer men he don't got time to file aren't u paying him? It make no sense to even file only for ead when bur vawa is approved just file ur aos and get ur green card the time u take to wait on ur ead is the approximate time u could wait to get ur 10 years GC which is much better than a ead. Let me know what happen when u decide to file.

It is possible that they saw it on the xray but they told me they saw nothing and sent me back to the ccounty center then two drs had a disscussion about what to do with me. one was saying it was because of the bcg and the other was saying that would have worn off after 5 years and eventually they agreed the best thing was to treat just incase. i only took the one medicine and i forget the name but i had no problems taking it.

A doctor with good judgment who took the hypocractic oath should not give u a potentially dangerous med with a reason and the health risk should out weight the danger so they gave it to u on good Claus. I guess Caz its latent they put u on one drug. Many ppl test positive due to bcg and never get put on meds. They saw something in ur lungs scan that's y the gave it to u and gave u a Nationwide Clarence because its a CDC requirement for commucable disease such as tb.

The TB vaccination only lasts for around 15 years in most people (it varies). I was vaccinated against it in the UK at age 13, as is common practice in Europe, and when I had the skin test here a year ago it had worn off by then and the skin test was negative, so I needed no further treatment.

Also, props for for the Danger Mouse avatar.
