Where can I see when my petition was last touched? I signed up for alerts and I can see that it's on initial review but I don't see the dates when it was touched. Any help would be appreciated.

You can see it on the USCIS.gov. Just need case number.

But from what I've read on this forum, Vawa doesn't officially touch your case very often. Typically by the time they touch the file, you've either done something to have them look into it or they're about to rule.

For example, I'm on my 13th month of waiting. My file has been touched once, when I sent in new information and added my lawyer. At least in my case that date show up on the USCIS.gov site.

Just a random thought, but I don't think VAWA processes first-come-first-serve exclusively. Just from the times reported on the forum I get the feeling they rule on "stronger" cases first, then kinda drag on cases they're not sure about. At least in general.

Galateia she can file I-751 waiver if she has a divorce decree or she can file form I-751 based in extreme cruelty, and she does not need a divorce for that

Eeek, that means that she's screwed then, since she's not divorced and he'll probably drag his feet on that too. So unless he starts beating her to the point where she can file police reports, VAWA can't help her?

cielo 14 let me explain how it works the Vawa "touch'. Your vawa gets there and they submit the prima facie(touch), after a few weeks they issue EAD (touch), after a few months they renew the prima facie (touch), they renew once again the prima facie (touch) they get the file to adjudicate and then they notice something is missing or they want more evidences and request more evidences- RFE (touch), after receiving the RFE answer they will adjudicate the case. They don't open one file to adjudicate each week or every month a little bit , they get the file to be adjudicated just once, but if they need additional evidences they have to wait the answer to finally adjudicate the petition, All cases are in the queue, it means they are adjudicating Vawa cases in the order the cases are received, but some cases are taking long time for many reasons such as background check, common names, lost files,multiples RFEs etc.

cielo you can ask your counselor to give you a report/letter/evaluation, but she must specify:

how many sessions you attended and dates;

the duration of each session;

the topics discussed;

the purpose of any medication you have being prescribed or if he/she referred you to see a doctor and to give the reason;

an evaluation of your progress;

an opinion on future counseling needs

diagnose;

she should describe how you described yourself before the abuse and how she sees you after the abuse and put her considerations such as that she believes you suffered mental abuse and/or that you were battered.

Akumu when the say they are doing background check it's means many things such as requesting a name check from the FBI and conducting other inter agency criminal background checks,waiting information from another government agency,if a person's name matches a record or reveals informations that requires further review it may take additional time or if the FBI determine unclassifiable the fingerprints for the purpose of conducting a criminal check and reject the fingerprints or it's for final review of the case.

Hi guys .

just want to give another update on my case. Just received my 5th prima facie :-( .... YES 2 weeks ago they told me attorney that my file was been adjucated by an officer, and know i just got my 5th prima facie valid for 2 more months. So I m waiting for over 16th months now.

I don't why its taking so long. I have a clean record, not even a trafic citation, I have a baby with my wife, I have an approved I-130 that was submitted by her in 2008. My case is not a suspicious case , I been married for almost 6 years. I hope i dont have to renew my prima facie again and go to my 6th one, hope to receive a decision within the next 2 months.

Just received an email from USCIS that my request to expedite I-360 was approved and my petition is being reviewed. It's good news, hopefully it gets approved. I am praying God, please, I need I-360 to get approved so I would be able to work.
