yes they can it happen to my aunt when she got her visa if the job was list on the app they can check to see if u was working remember even when they give u a visa it dose not say anything until u come to poe they can question u there and turn u back or let u in good luck its a k1 visa and not cr1.

Not concerned about him being turned away, but my issue is that I have worked in social service areas, and you do not divulge information to employers.

Keep messy co=workers out of your business. if beneficiary at times are told to get info from atty/petitioner Y would the dept call to divulge info or ask questions after visa is issued? they just called to say he's leaving  That visa dont even

require him having a job so?? Its scammers/pranksters be careful not to give out info....something is fishy.

I agree 100%. The back ground check is not a requirement for the Beneficiary and having a job is not required either which means the call was not required. My fiance told me he would tell no one about leaving until the day he is going to leave and he will even work up until that time.....now I know why. Remember they have concrete evidence of who he is at the interview police record, birth certificate, no impediment, etc. Why would a job that he is about to leave in Jamaica matter to the US?

I wonder if it was someone trying to cause trouble... Calling cause they thought maybe he hadn't told anyone he was leaving and they thought it would get him fired? That's what I would think. As others have said, his employment is irrelevant. Even if it turns out he didn't work there, it doesn't affect his approval because having a job isn't a requirement for the potential immigrant.

Some of the comments are just so weird.

It has nothing to do with whether or not a job is a part of the requirement for getting the visa......its about finding out if he is telling the truth about his employment!! It is as simply as that because some people tell lies even when there is no reason to do so.

It doesn't matter whether he's telling the truth about his employment or not. Because it's NOT something that matters for getting his visa. So calling to see whether he told the truth about his employment would be completely pointless when his employment is irrelevant.

Being employed is also not a requirement for getting a tourist visa is it? You just have to prove that you have enough ties to your country. However, in most cases they do call and check if you do say you are employed at the place that you put on your application.

I know this because I have had to deal with calls from the embassy to my office when they check. I recall one occasion when it turned out that the person did not work with us. They also sent in a job letter our letterhead. Investigations revealed that the person who signed it had no authority do so and was just trying to 'help out a friend'. He was fired. We had to do a clean up job which also included providing the embassy with the title and names of persons who are authorised to verify employment. This is a well known international company.

I am sure you know that lying to the embassy has consequences.

I can only speak for Jamaica. I dont know what takes place in other countries.

Job letters or proof of business are one of the major ties have to be produced for a tourists visa in Jamaica,

lets play devils advocate, if Embassy called is is verify person does work there (AFTER VISA ISSUED) seem

they would just ask if the person is in, then listen for response, he no longer works here, no one works here by that name,

or he's not in today, It does not make sense and the US govt. is not stupid.

The US government is not stupid indeed. So to call and ask if a person is 'in' is stupid. To call to verify the information given on a document is an entirely different matter.
