Sorry to hear that Jitterbug and K24, not the things you want to have happen after a long wait... This process can definitely be hard on a person, it's an inefficient government so thats what we get..

K24- I doubt you can get your SS card with the incorrect name on your card. I think its pretty much worthless as I wouldn't be leaving the country or getting a job with that. Have you tried calling anyone to resolve the issue?

Oh wow, Jitterbug and K24, what a mess for both of you! Hopefully things get straightened out soon!

Meanwhile, still waiting here for news on my daughter's EAD/AP. Today is Day 73, since they received the application. Just putting our worry and anxiousness in God's hands. It's not been doing me any good stressing out......... If we don't hear anything after 17 more days, we'll start calling USCIS and see what's up.

I do believe, though that we must be waiting the longest for this, of those who were mid-November filers

Hi VJ friends,

Went to Social Security today and filed my application despite wrong name. They gave me the receipt with the correct name and I can get it on Wednesday. I will keep everyone posted tomorrow on our interview.

Wish I could get my number so I can go to DMV tomorrow as well. :(

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

We just met with our lawyer today in prep for our interview on Friday - we are all set! We're hoping to cork a champagne bottle on Friday to celebrate! :)

Our cards arrived! Next stop SS to change my name.

Feel sorry for the guy that is waiting for his card that landed in my mailbox in error! That's the second mis-mailed document I've received, doesn't instill much faith....

Congrats on getting your cards --

I can't believe they're mismailing important documents.

I'm suprised that the Social Security office was that efficient - I hope all goes smoothly with your soc card!

Hi everybody.

I am a November 2012 filer and I already have an interview date for February 14th. The problem is I have also filed for a travel document and still haven't gotten any update on it or the EAD.

From what I've researched, it should get here before the interview, but from how things are moving, I feel like I'm gonna get my green card even before the EAD and travel document are approved. That makes no sense to me, since the entire idea of the travel document is to allow you to travel before you get your green card.

I am really worried, since I am supposed to fly out to Nicaragua to do a mission trip on the 15th of February.

Thank you so much for any reply.

AOS timeline:

Day 1: 11/21/12: package sent

Day 6: 11/26/12: package received

Day 30: 12/20/12: biometrics appointment letter for 01/14/13

Day 36: 12/26/12: biometrics walk-in

Day 55: 01/14/13: interview appointment letter for 02/14/13 :-)

Day 70: 01/29/13: EAD/AP approved

Day 73: 01/31/13: EAD/AP mailed

Day 76: 02/04/13: EAD/AP received

Day 86: 02/14/13: interview-approved

They have 90 days to make a decision from when you file, then you of course need to receive the document. Given it's a mission trip you may be able to talk to them about expediting it however you might just have to 'sit and wait'. Obviously it goes without saying that under NO circumstances should you leave the country without AP but I think an InfoPass appointment might be the way to go here

Hi everyone!

I received my card yesterday in the mail! Sooo happy! The name is correct and will see if there is anything wrong with the numbers tomorrow. I have to fill my paperwork with my employer and they will do E-verify so will see if everything is ok with the EAD. The only thing I am not happy about is that the card says "not valid for reentry to US" ... I thought it was EAD/AP!!! I still don't have date for interview and I don't know how long it will take to get one! My passport expires April 18 and I really need to go back home and apply for a new one! If I am not allowed to travel with this card what is the point of the AP part in the application? Is it different case? It probably means I can't leave the country before I get my Green card! What if something goes wrong and the interview takes forever?
