HI all,

I have my biometrics App tomorrow and i would like to know if theres is something i can do between the moment i m done with the biometrics and the day the EAD arrives?

when is it possible to get the SSN? what about Driver License?

EAD/ AP is usually received 60 to 70 days after filing AOS. You can try for your license after you receive the EAD. You can applied for your SS Card when your Green Card arrives. Good Luck :)

Your timeline for EAD shows.... Based on timeline data, your EAD may be adjudicated between December 21, 2012 and December 23, 2012*.

You can apply for a SSN when your EAD arrives. Many states require proof of SSN for ID & DL.

Wife's journey.
Day 01 - 07/25/2012 - Mailed AOS package (I-130,I-131, I-485,I-765) via UPS Next Day Air.
Day 02 - 07/26/2012 - Package delivered by UPS.
Day 10 - 08/03/2012 - Got 4 emails confirm AOS package had been received. Checks cashed.
Day 13 - 08/06/2012 - Receipt Numbers are track-able on USCIS website.
Day 18 - 08/11/2012 - Biometrics Notice received (Dated: 8/8, Appointment: 8/29)
Day 20 - 08/13/2012 - Walk-in biometrics done.
Day 24 - 08/17/2012 - Received 4 NOA letters.
Day 27 - 08/20/2012 - 2nd Biometrics Notice received. Same day walk-in biometrics done.
Day 41 - 09/03/2012 - Email and txt notification of interview.
Day 43 - 09/05/2012 - Interview Notice in the mail. This is GREAT!
Day 63 - 09/25/2012 - EAD txt notification. I-765 online status updated.
Day 69 - 10/01/2012 - EAD Mailed.
Day 71 - 10/03/2012 - Interview. I-130 approved. I-485 will be approved after police clearance received. / EAD received. Wrong name. Wrong country of birth.
... waiting for Police Reports from Vietnam and current city's police dept.
11/01/2012 - RFE Police reports sent.
11/06/2012 - I-485 Approved. Card production email received.
11/09/2012 - Email notification. Card picked up by USPS.
11/15/2012 - GC received. Correct name. Still wrong country of birth.

Remove condition:

10/22/2014 - I-751 notice receipt received.

Once your EAD arrives you can look at getting your ssn and drivers license!

Your EAD will probably take 60-90 days to come through.

After you have your EAD you will be waiting for your interview and then hopefully your greencard :)

Short answer on the drivers license-it depends on the state you're in. I applied for a Drivers License in the state of VA with my passport, NOA (for the I-485) from the USCIS on my pending application, the I-94 and my lease (to establish residence) and that was pretty much it. I filled in a form, took the computer test, went for the driving test and in about 45 min-I had myself a drivers license approval. Hope this helps!

Filing for AOS (arrived on B1 Visitor Status)

Day 00: 09/19/12 - Mailed Concurrent AOS(I130+ I485+ I765+ 131) application through USPS Express Mail to Chicago

Day 01: 09/20/12 - Delivered and signed for by J Chyaba

Day 08: 09/27/12 - Email and text notification from USCIS for all 4 applications+Checks cashed

Day 12: 10/01/12 - Hard copy notification from USCIS for all 4 applications

Day 15: 10/04/12 - Hard copy notification from USCIS for Biometric Appointment (scheduled on 10/26/12)-Durham, NC

Day 20: 10/09/12 - Walk-In Biometrics done at Durham, NC

Day 22: 10/11/12 - Approached local Congressman for help. Congressman's office confirms that inquiry will be filed today.

Day 35: 10/24/12 - Online update on USCIS web site for interview to be held on November 26

Day 36: 10/26/12 - Received hard copy of notice (dated 10/22/2012) for interview to be held on November 26 at Norfolk, VA

Day 48: 11/07/12 - Email/Online update saying EAD card production has been ordered.

Day 55: 11/14/12 - Second email/Online update saying EAD card production has been ordered.

Day 56: 11/15/12 - Email/Online update saying EAD card has been mailed to my address.

Day 56: 11/15/12 - Email/Online update saying EAD card has been picked up by USPS.

Day 58: 11/17/12 - EAD Card received.

Day 66: 11/26/12 - Interview at Norfolk, VA-Approved

Day 70: 11/30/12 - Hard copy of approval notices for I-130 and I-485(Welcome to America Letter)

Day 73: 12/03/12 - Green Card received
