It seems that NSC skipped us over. They received the I-751 on March 6, cashed our check on March 9, and nothing. No NOA or Biometrics appt letter...nothing. It looks like they're sending out NOAs for I-751s received later in the month, but it seems they skipped us over  Congresswoman's office can't get a straight answer from NSC (NSC tells them that they're processing applications as of Aug 2006 and should call back when the processing date reaches March 2007) The only good thing coming from their office was that they were at least able to get a receipt number. You'd figure if a receipt number was assigned, an NOA was printed... After talking to an immigration officer (after complaining enough to the customer service rep on the 1-800 line, they transfer you to an actual immigration officer), they give a BS response of "you shouldn't get a biometrics appointment until after you're approved, and that could take 8 months. If you don't receive your NOA, just get your passport stamped at your local field office". It seems that NO ONE (other than the one person doing I-751 reviews) know what is going on. The only people who actually know what the process is and what to expect are folks on VJ. Not sure what else to do, but get the passport stamped and wait until next year for the N-400. Not sure how the N-400 will be processed if I don't even have a 10 yr GC...

Dave, I am sorry to hear that!

Have they cashed your checks? Was the phone person able to give you a case number that works online? Have you tried calling your local office to see if they have an appointment scheduled for you and you just never received the letter? Good Luck! Let us know how it turns out...

Thanks ace13. Yeah, they cashed the check, and our Congresswoman's office was able to get a case number that works online. And I know it is the correct case number because the Immigration Officers on the phone verified our address. I have an infopass apt next week, as well as a mtg with my Senator's office. The frustrating thing is that the NSC congressional liason (when corresponding with my Congresswoman's office) as well as the immigration officers I spoke with over the phone have no clue what is involved in the I-751/CR 89 process. Whenever I ask about my biometrics apt, they ALL say that we won't get a biometrics apt letter until 6-8 months when our case is reviewed and approved, and that I should contact them once the case processing dates reach the date I submitted the I-751. That right there tells me the USCIS have no clue whatsoever. I doubt the infopass apt or my Senator's office will be of any help, but I'm just getting as many people involved as possible so I have a record that we are trying to get to the bottom of this. My I-751 will be in perpetual "processing". With no receipt and no biometrics appointment letter, there's nothing I can do. I'll hopefully get a stamp in my passport, and wait out the year to apply for the N-400.

I didnt receive an actual NOA for quite awhile when I first submitted my I-751, was a lot longer than a month (closer to 2.5). Nothing gets completed in order, I'msure others that submitted after I did, got their NOA! Took around 6 months to get the actual card (going through Vermont) Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I understand your frustration for not getting a NOA, but, at least, your situation is rather comfortable, compared with applicants for other USCIS benefits: you can live here, you can work here, you can travel, until the USCIS adjucates your case. For the proof of status, you can get your stamp, and if you haven't gotten an adjucation after one year, you get another stamp. I wish you that your way to the local office isn't far. To the N-400: You can still file after the normal duration; and I have read that a filed N-400 accelerates the adjucation of the I-751. That does not mean you shouldn't complain through your representative - the USCIS office is supposed to send you the NOA.
