Hi Petter,

My extention letter said that they had received my I-751 information, that I was authorized to work and travel one year after the date that my green card expired and that in order to continue with the process I was going to receive an appoinment for biometrics. I received that seccond letter like a week after from Vermont.

They have the same receipt number; you can use that number to look for updates to your case in the USCIS.GOV web site.

After fingerprints 12/14/06 I am still waiting and waiting and waiting.. :clock:

Good luck and be very patient.

I've received both my NOA and my bio appt in the mail today. Bio appt is for early March.

Illinois,

Were the NOA and the biometrics appointment in the same envelope or in two separate ones? I received my biometric appointment today but no letter about extending my status yet. By the way, how does such a letter look like?

Peter

Hi Peter,

they came in seperate envelopes but looked exactly the same from the outside. The NOA is printed on the same kind of paper as the Bio Appt and they're both one page documents. You'll probably receive your NOA here either today or Monday! Good luck! :star:

Monday it came. With NOA in hand, I can skip my plan to go and get a stamp at the USCIS office.

------------------

1/27/07 I-751 sent to Nebraska

1/30/07 arrived (signature)

2/5/07 check cashed

2/23/07 biometrics appt.

2/26/07 NOA received

3/2/07 old GC expires

3/9/07 biometrics

After biometrics, I'll wait for the decision on my I-751, sometimes in June or July, I guess. For your information, here is part of my cover letter with the list of attached evidence:

27-Jan-2007

Dear Madam or Sir,

Please find attached my application I-751 to remove the condition on my residence. Below is a complete list of attachments to this cover letter.

On form I 751, you required a list of my addresses since I became a permanent resident. I lived

from ... until ... at ... and

from ... until today at ...

I have waited with this application until our second son was born and his birth certificate was issued. If you need any further evidence, please send me your request.

Regards,

...

Attachments:

- filled out I-751

- personal check for 275 USD (application fee)

- my current PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD (copies of front and back)

- birth certificate of our second son (original)

- birth certificate of our first son (copy, original should be on file)

- our current lease from ... (copy, first and last page)

- our previous lease from ... (copy, leases stapled together)

- overview of my current health care coverage (copy)

- federal income tax filed jointly in April 2006 (copy)

- federal income tax filed jointly in April 2005 (copy)

- title of my car, owned jointly by us (copy)

- recent statement of our joint account (original)

I relied for proof of marriage mainly on the two birth certificates, which is the reason I send the first again and the second as original (one of many). The leases show that we also live together as a family. The rest is what I had easily at hand.

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Many thanks Ace.

Even if the biometrics appointment doesn't arrive I'm not particularly concerned as long as I have the NOA. If that happens I'll just call them for an infopass and see what they say. GC doesn't run out until after we return from vacation.

It seems that NSC skipped us over. They received the I-751 on March 6, cashed our check on March 9, and nothing. No NOA or Biometrics appt letter...nothing. It looks like they're sending out NOAs for I-751s received later in the month, but it seems they skipped us over  Congresswoman's office can't get a straight answer from NSC (NSC tells them that they're processing applications as of Aug 2006 and should call back when the processing date reaches March 2007) The only good thing coming from their office was that they were at least able to get a receipt number. You'd figure if a receipt number was assigned, an NOA was printed... After talking to an immigration officer (after complaining enough to the customer service rep on the 1-800 line, they transfer you to an actual immigration officer), they give a BS response of "you shouldn't get a biometrics appointment until after you're approved, and that could take 8 months. If you don't receive your NOA, just get your passport stamped at your local field office". It seems that NO ONE (other than the one person doing I-751 reviews) know what is going on. The only people who actually know what the process is and what to expect are folks on VJ. Not sure what else to do, but get the passport stamped and wait until next year for the N-400. Not sure how the N-400 will be processed if I don't even have a 10 yr GC...
