Hey, guys! Just an idea for those waiting...why don't we keep a track on when you filed your I-751, Service Center, date of NOA and then finally approval in this particular post?

For example, we filed all the paperwork on September 28, 2006 to Vermont....and no word since then...

Tata - 09/28/06 filed to Vermont ( no NOA yet)

C'mon, guys...let's create this waiting list of support!

I-751 filed on 01/20/07 California Service Center, no NOA yet.

Could you give me more info on this.

Fisrt I am waiting for NOA and then what?

When is the biometric an appoiment ?

When and how we get the I-551 stamp.

Which dovument exactly gives us the extention for one more year.

Please share w/ me

Thank you

If you get your NOA before your green card expires, you are fine--the ideal situation is you get your NOA, and soon thereafter comes the letter telling you to go to biometrics. The NOA with your green card is your proof of extension for one year.

It is only if you do NOT receive an NOA before your green card expires that you need to get the I-551 stamp. The I-551 stamp becomes your 'green card' and they can take the expired green card from you. You would need to make an Infopass appointment on their website to go to a local office and get it. To get it, you would bring your expired card as well as some proof you had submitted paperwork (a copy of your paperwork that you filed, post office receipts, the cancelled cheque etc.)

You only need one: either the NOA giving you an extension, OR the I-551 stamp.

Good luck!

I've received both my NOA and my bio appt in the mail today. Bio appt is for early March.

Illinois,

Were the NOA and the biometrics appointment in the same envelope or in two separate ones? I received my biometric appointment today but no letter about extending my status yet. By the way, how does such a letter look like?

Peter
