take it as a good sign,

as

the AOS casefiles, adjusting from a K-1 visa,

those that not need an interview

are now going to MSC.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

All cases go through NBC first, and all cases AOSing from K-1 have a MSC number. They then stay there and are processed without interview, or are transferred to a local USCIS office for an interview.

It doesn't mean anything for now. :)

How do I check my status on the USCIS web site? Do I use my WAC number as it doesn't recognize the MSC number. The last thing that shows under the WAC number was our NOA2 but clearly something has happened since then. Thanks.

Darnell, I know that. But even before August 1st, all cases were still all going through NBC first. The ones chosen to be waived from an interview were transferred to CSC. Now, they stay at NBC and are processed there.

Please see this link: http://www.visajourney.com/news/2012/09/30/workload-transfer-from-service-centers-to-field-operations/

"In the past, the NBC completed pre-processing of these cases and then transferred them to the California Service Center for adjudication. On Aug. 1, 2012, the NBC started to retain these cases for adjudication."

I got an interview and I can tell you my case number starts with MSC, like all AOS cases from K-1. So, interview or not, they all start with MSC.

OP, your WAC number is useless now. It should be your MSC number, but it's possible it doesn't work and that you can't see the updates (it happens to some people).

Yes. All AOS cases are sent to the NBC and all have a case number that starts with MSC. That has not changed. The only change was that they stopped transferring K-1 cases to the CSC. Now they are either processed at the NBC without interview, or they are transferred to your local office for an interview.
