I think the ppl of America has made a joke of the media with their responses to polls. I also think libs will vote for Romney claiming they voted for Obama to their friends cuz we all know what happens if libs dont tow the line. They know they will be disowned.

His party did nothing to help him.

They sabotaged him, over and over again.

Rick Perry forced him to the extreme right on immigration. Those dumb as bricks guys who kept saying stupid ####### about women. And in the end, Chris Christie decapitated his campaign with one smooth swift stroke of the sword.

The only Republican who comes out of this with a smile is Rove, who made a killing.

His party did nothing to help him.

Jon Stewart did a video clip of Santorum, Perry, and Gingrich all slamming him before he even starting his run. Combined with the fact that his own state and the state he governs didn't even vote for him, he was set up to fail. And as you pointed out earlier, he had the biggest advantage ever, a bad economy. Added to the fact that the almost the entire GOP thinks Obama is a Muslim, socialist, lazy, food stamp, doesn't love America, didn't do a damn thing in his first term, isn't even an American, and basically some other nasty words I can't say here, you would think it would have been easy to unseat him.

If you do any type of research or reading on the web, you'll see that this election was won by the Dems fair and square, despite voter suppression, and jenky voter machines from the Republicans. The simple fact is this, your candidate was a wash from the day he decided to run for office. That's the part that makes me laugh when I see people crying and ranting about the loss, look within your own party. You couldn't find a single person who champions those "principles" that you say you hold so high. Romney targeted the only base of people he could relate to, he did nothing to reach out to any other group. And in the end that's what cost him the election.

Nobody wants to place the blame on the Republicans. They honestly did not see this loss coming. They live in a bubble and believe their way is the right way and everything will work out for them. Since Tuesday's results, I've been saying this party seriously needs to look within itself. They're the only reason they lost. They can blame Obama all they'd like and point their fingers at policies they disagree with, but the fact of the matter is they're out of touch and they lost. They don't change with the times and it's going to bite them in the butt until they do.

They need to learn that these extreme right wing views of theirs do not match the views of Americans. And I am not saying the Republicans need to abandon all principles. I'm simply saying they need to evolve like everyone else.

People here want to blame minorities for Obama winning. What do you think will happen in 4 years? The populations you're blaming will be larger, and will likely vote Democratic again the same way they did before Obama even came around. Republicans need to realize that, and stop excluding them in their target audience.

Three things the GOP need to change:

Learn to compromise

Marginalize the Tea Party

Govern with equal parts logic and principles rather than just principles alone

I read that off of CNN, and it's 100 percent on point.

Politics is a game.

In order to get the majority of people to vote for you, you need to alienate as few as possible.

If you alienate the 50 million Americans who currently have no health insurance, you are off to a bad start. If you alienate those millions of Americans who have paid into SS in hope for Medicare to be there for them when they need it, that's not so good either. If you alienate over a 100 million women in telling them that they can't expect to be paid the same as men, even if they do the same job, that's really a bad move. If you tell the same women that you'll plan to overturn Roe vs. Wade and legislate birth control . . . that's just plain stupid. Now you tell those women that if daddy humps his 12 year-old daughter and knocks her up, that this is the will of God . . . well . . . don't know what to say about that. Then you tell the 52 million Latinos that self-deportation is how you will deal with the problem . . . voila . . . another kick in the wrong direction. Than you tell all gays and those Americans who support their right to get married that they can go and #### themselves, as before, but not as a married couple . . . and the list goes on.

It's really not that complicated. Or is it?

If the Republican party wants to get into power again, they need to speak to all Americans, or, better phrased, as many as possible. They can disagree on issues with the Democrats, but they cannot put crazy positions up that are just unacceptable. They also can't nominate a man who has no backbone at all, as they have done.

Frankly, aside from his elitism and lack of compassion, I believe Romney is a pretty good man. But in order to get the nomination, he had to cater to all those crazy folks and deny his greatest achievement, Romneycare. Once elected, he had to move to the center fast, and change his positions dramatically. And that just didn't work as he was hoping it would. Romney is not stupid, but he played a game that he had to play in order to get where he needed to get, yet the game was so rigged that he simply couldn't win it.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

President Teddy Roosevelt on Columbus Day 1915
