Hi Friends!!!!

I need your help! :help: (Excuse me for being absent for so long, but I needed to take a break from here after our 1st K1 Visa Interview. Truth is, I was too sad.)

Here is my question - Does my Fiance's divorce certificate need to pass through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Venezuela? He was born in Venezuela, but now lives in Aruba. He and his ex wife were married in Venezuela but divorced in Aruba.

* :star: Fiance needs to finish interview. The officer asked that we return with his Arubian divorce decree certified by the Venezuelan Consulate in Aruba. THIS IS DONE. Fiance also needs to register it with the municipality in Venezuela. THIS IS DONE. His divorce is now legalized in Venezuela

* :star: Our Lawyer took the paper to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today but we are not sure if this is necessary. We can take it out if we need to. Plus our lawyer is charging us extra for this.

* :star: Online - at the US Embassy of Venezuela website - it says (under preparing for your interview and documents to bring) that "the certification by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of these civil documents is not required unless specifically requested by the consular officer. WE DO NOT REMEMBER THE CONSULAR MENTIONING THIS TO US DURING THE INTERVIEW. SHE JUST KEPT SAYING IT NEEDED TO BE REGISTERED AT THE MUNICIPAL. BUT WE ARE NERVOUS AND UNSURE ABOUT RETURNING WITHOUT THIS.

* :star: Consulate said the medical and police certificates expire after 1 year. We did not update any of this. HIs arubian police certificate was done in February. This is okay right?

I emailed the consulate today and we are waiting to hear back. I need your opinion because we would like to return this week if possible. We found inexpensive tickets and do not want for the paper to go thru an unnessary process. It has been almost 7 months since our 1st interview and we are ready to be together!

I appreciate your help!

thanks,

Jessica Renee

hahahah verdad!!!??!? Its BEEN TOO LONG!!!!

He is going to take it tomorrow but he says it is going to be 3-5 days. they are closed on Friday and the Embassy is closed on Monday. I think we are going to risk it. If you read the requirements for the interview it says when the papers NEED to be appostillado. Under the Divorce part it says nothing.

i forgot to mention that it was apostillado en aruba already. It's LEGAL en Venezeuala and passed thru the registries.

So confusing. Maybe just impactience because I am off this week and can go back with him.

xoxoxoxooxoxo thanks for responding Andrea xoxoxo
