I am the petitioner. No current income. Got joint sponsor to help petition for my husband. Joint sponsor did well up until this last years income tax return. 2011 below pov. guide. by about 1000. Attorney asking for at least 5 times the difference in joint sponsors bank account in order to prove he still qualifies. Is it possible to have another joint sponsor as well? So it's myself plus two joint sponsors who qualify individually? Interview in two weeks.

Thanks.

No you can only have one sponsor per beneficiary. If you can find someone who is better qualified, you can switch co-sponsors.

Thank you for your reply. I guess I'm worried about the joint sponsors 2011 income tax return. Will get bank statement & add it together but

Unsure how they look at that. Could they deny him even though he has enough in bank?

Yes, the Joint Sponsor can still be rejected even though he has enough money in the bank to make up the shortfall. The reason is because it has to be determined that the money is actually available and not a scam - a "loan" for the purpose of meeting the I-864 requirement.

When a Joint Sponsor does not meet the poverty line, they look at using assets with suspicion. If a person makes below the poverty level, then where did the money come from? Previous savings? Or a "loan" to meet the poverty line?

So, no automatic acceptance just because the Joint Sponsor has money in the bank.

Does your joint sponsor have another household member that can "join income" with him/her? Like a spouse or other relations living in the same household...

His son has started to work but was claimed as a dependant on his income tax return.

The joint sponsor I have as back-up is my stepdad. Filed alone. My mom also filed alone. Maybe they could add their income since

They live together in case the current joint sponsor is kicked back.
