I have no idea in what forum I should post this, so I eeny-meeny-miney-moed it.

I need some input from the wise minds of VJ for yet another tricky situation. Here's the deal:

My husband has his interview scheduled on December 11th for his CR-1 visa. If he is approved, he will fly home to Guadalajara, make his preparations, and, after celebrating his twin sons' 18th birthdays on December 16th, he will fly to join me in the US. But, as it is the holiday season, we have had plans in the works for him and the one son who actually has his B-2 visa in hand to come spend Christmas with us. Now that we know the Christmas trip may be my husband's POE, I am having panic attacks visualizing him walking up to the immigration officer with his unopened packet AND his 18 year old son in tow. I don't think I'm being paraniod to think the IO may look at him and think "Yeah, nice try, guy." Or am I? I'm debating whether to have my husband fly in first and have my stepson follow a few days later. I'm sure he would be nervous since he's never been on a plane or to the US before, but I'm sure he would rather tough it out than get here with his dad and be turned around at the gate. Or WORSE, for both of them to be turned around. I know that it's Christmas and that a two week visit at this time of year is normal, but still.

Any advice? Should they be ok travelling together, just make sure that my stepson has his return ticket in hand? Or is it better for him to come up a few days later?

Probably they will be separated as your Husband will need go through Secondary.

They do not have to walk up together.

Really? If that's the case then I'll stop worrying. But when they fill out the customs forms on the plane aren't they generally asked what family members they are traveling with and then full out one card for the two of them? Should my stepson just ask for his own customs declaration card and proceed as if traveling alone since they will be going through different immigration lines?

Thank you for your reply!
