about how long for interviewing officer to receive and input the requested birth record she asked for during interview? after she make request for the birth record she states visa approved and will receive within 15 days.

The DOS officer is correct. Based on the fact that the officer at the Embassy does not know how long it would take for you to get the information requested to them. Then they have to process it, print the visa and few more things before it is picked up by the courier and delivered to you or available for pick up. BUT, that is not to say you may not have it in 15 days. All you can do is wait and keep calling and checking.

if your visa was approved and they wanted you to go back to the embassy to bring the original documents, the US Embassy in my country will approve your visa in 3 business day and after you sent the doc in person, they will give you another white slip so you can pick up your visa.. well they've seen the copy of your doc before and the only difference is they want the original instead of copy... but it depends on the consulate you go to..just call / e-mail them again in 3 days or 1 week.. because as far as i know the embassy usually won't tell you if your visa already been issued :bonk::bonk: you have to call them..it happens to my friends

but if your visa status is in AP you'll never know when they will issued your visa..

DOS officer is correct. NO ONE can say how long AP will take. If the case has been put into AP no one can say. Just because they asked for the original birth record does not mean that is the only thing they are checking on, it means it is something they needed.

Your visa is not approved until it arrives in her passport. Nothing anyone "says" means anything.

They all say that. Means nothing. There have been cases where it took so long people withdrew the case and filed a new one. In one case it was because the woman's ex-husband was filing for a K-1 at the same time and it threw up all kinds of red flags, truned out to be nothing. That one took over a year to resolve.

Another one here recently took months and months with no word and finally approved with no explanation.

Nothing anyone SAYS means anything.

the papers asked for was received by embasy 2 days later after interveiw

If the case is put in AP the decision will be made when AP is completed. You are making the assumption that because they asked for a document the visa will be issued when the document is received. Wrong. You are assuming because a guy at the window says it is "approved" that it is actually approved. Wrong. You are assuming that if they say "in 15 days" they are somehow obligated to produce a visa in 15 days. Wrong.

It would appear the case is in AP for some reason or no reason (they do it randomly sometimes). It is often done after the interview and after they have said you were "approved". If fact that is how it is usually done. The visa will be issued (or not) when the AP is complete. There is no time frame for AP and no way to speed it along.

The most common reason for long delays is that they are waiting for some sort of documentation from the Ukrainian government which can take a while. No, I do not know which document they are waiting for. Could be anything. Often the amount of time it takes is not within their control and that is why it is best not to say when it will be complete.

Doesn't matter. Most times when a case is put in AP they don't request anything. ALL applicants need to bring the original of their birth certificate and a copy of the birth certificate, they used to also have to provide a translation, but they do not anymore if the BC is in Russian or Ukrainian. It is specifically stated in the instructions to bring the orignal and a copy. Normally they look at both and return the original. I sincerely doubt the request for the BC was anything but a normal request for a document that is always required and has nothing to do woth the delay...IF ANY

The problem also, Ron, is that she had her interview October 30, as I recall, and did not bring the document until two days later and was told 15 days until visa. When they say 15 days that ALWAYS means "business days" they are still well within the time you were quoted and there is no need for you to ask anything until about 2 weeks from now.

If it IS in AP it would have nothing to do with the BC and would be completely independent of anything to date. Again, you are making the assumption that the BC has something to do with the delay and that is a bad assumption. ANY case is subject to AP at the consulate, or any other stage of the process.

You are going to need to get used to this Ron, you have four years of it to go.

Edited to correct. She had her interview Oct 24, delivered document Oct 26. 15 business days is November 16

Unfortunately the not knowing is a large part of this process. The fact they mentioned AP sounds to me like you will have a bit more of a wait! Use the time to find how to get her into ESL classes, how to get SSN quickly and find drivers instruction etc. Lena only has 4 months till she is eligible for citizenship and her LOC is still in limbo!! So get used to the not knowing and waiting!!!

The ROC(LOC) is taking ridiculously long right now, it is pushing the 1 year mark for many people and yes, that means she is eligible for citizenship. Just FYI she can get another extension or the local office can put a stamp in her passport if need be and she CAN get citizenship without ever getting the 10 year green card. Several people have had that happen. It is required that they have a VALID green card to apply for citizenship, but the expired green card and the extension count as a "valid green card" If that happens, Jim, apply for her citizenship as planned and include a copy of her green card and the extension letter or passport stamp

ROC gets low priority because it is not granting any benefit, per se. The extension letter allows them to travel and work.

Jim, you are spot on that you HAVE TO give up on this nervous-jervis condition in this process. And Ron, seriously, I do not know about your fiancee but my wife would find that SOOOOOOOOO troubling if I was as worried as you always seem to be. I am not kidding. Alla gets nervous about stuff, and expects me to be cool and relaxed and if I was not, holy smokes! And if I did it all the time she would figure I was not really a man. Just send off your stuff and forget about it until you hear from them or you will go batsh*t crazy. Believe me, I was so glad to be rid of it when they take the oath of citizenship!

But also believe me, I NEVER checked the status of our case at any point for any reason nor called anyone. I just told Alla "I will let you know when it is approved" In the meantime I went there several times and collected documents for the interview, visited her and she was fine because everything was going as it should and we were working on things together. Then I came back and was working on the house, she was choosing ceramic tile via cell phone pics, I was going to school meetings to set up things for her and Pasha and keeping her up on that stuff. She just really never asked about the petition or anything else. Even after she had the visa we took another month for her to finish up business there before coming here and to make final arrangements here.

One thing, Ron, everything is going to be OK. This week, next week, 3 weeks, 8 weeks...it will be OK and after she arrives you forget all that. This is a lifetime commitment, not a dinner date. 1,2 or 8 weeks means nothing. It is a long road and the visa is the beginning, not the end. Try not to worry and get nervous.
