After reading about a visa denial where the age difference is what was focused on, my fiance and I are feeling a little down because we know this is something we must prepare for. Yes I'm considerably older and yes I'm the woman and USC so if you want to prejudice us without knowing anything about us or make rude remarks about him just trying to woo me to get here then please don't reply. Please, I would like to hear from other couples with big age differences (and if you are comfortable sayingg how much of a difference) who were approved at the interview and how you handled the questions. And I guess those who were denied, too, because of the age difference. Hopefully there will be enough approved people who respond that it will lift our spirits.

You hubby need to prepare good reasonable answer when asked during the interview because it will be asked...but if you front loaded your petition at the stage of NVC it will help alot to proof it is real marriage with love, there are couples been approved with big age difference in lagos ofcourse, they cant deny because of age factor but you need to get prepared with alot of evidence and reasonable answers,be prayerful...God Bless

We dont have a big age difference but I just wanted to say donr feel down about it. Its nothing you can change and people in the same situation have been succesful. I would google things like k1 lagos age difference or something along those lines, usually visajourney old thread appear so you can read up on it. Good luck.

If You go through the consulate reviews from Nigeria, you will notice people getting approved with a lot of age difference, most times they don't even ask them any questions concerning their age, and most cases the older is the woman....... Please don't worry your pretty head about this okay, you will be just fine good.gifgood.gif

Thank you. It's so easy to say don't worry. I tell myself that, too. But...then I worry. :bonk: I know my fiance will be truthful but we want to be prepared for the difficult questions like having children and why are you with an older woman. I don't know if the consulate will accept his answers, as truthful as they will be. But is there a correct answer? I have front loaded. We decided to marry a whole year and two months into our relationship. And filed over a year after that. Is that good or bad? His father is deceased but we plan to present a letter from his eldest brother of his knowledge of our relationship, that he and I have had many conversations in two and a half years, and he approves of our plans. He makes all the family decisions. Will a letter from his mom help?

There is a 16 year age difference between my husband and I (USC), and age difference wasn't brought up. We were approved. I also frontloaded our petition. Also to address when you filed...we didn't file until almost 2 years into our marriage due to various reasons. That didn't come up though. They did ask why I had not returned to Nigeria after our marriage...he answered honestly.

They can not deniy you based on age difference. Your whole case is about evidence presented. If you frontloaded or at least presented a loving relationship they will see that. I am 21 years older than husband. I see no issue that will come up. If they ask my husband will answer truthfully but I see no wahala.

Please do not focus on what you can not change. Hopefully yo have a good petition that will go forth into the blessed hands of the CO. I pray you are praying together daily for favour and for your petition to fall into Godly hands. Thats all you can do. Your petition is in the hands of God not man. Have faith.

They can deny you for any reason as they deem fit. Fortunately for you...it can be refuted. All you need to have credible evidence of bona fide marriage but your age will be determined as well.

If they can deny my husband for something stupid as "looked nervous"....they can deny you base on age. Of course they won't say, I denied applicant base on the fact that he married an old bat". Come on!

Just tell your husband to have things in order and speak truthfully. If they catch him in a lie...it is over.
