Posting this poll for tomorrow. I've never had to wait more than 10 mins to vote here in LA (including in 2008), but it would be interesting to see what our experiences are.

In the interim before the polls open, I expect bashing to go here for whatever reason.star_smile.gif

I voted on election day only once in 2004. Ever since I live in FL, I go early voting. This year, I voted an absentee ballot in-person. Kind of odd but it was the fastest and easiest voting experience ever. In-and-out in less than 15 minutes. And that despite having voted on every race and issue on the longest ballot in FL history. Early in-person voting was pretty brutal around here this year. The lines at the library where I voted early in person in 2008 and 2010 were pretty long all of last week. Not as bad as what they showed for the SE part of the state but certainly worse than the lines in stood in 4 and 2 years ago.

I won't have to waste a second of my time voting because I don't have a vote. My wife shouldn't have to wait too long thanks to the new local polling station they just started using which is in a building 300 feet from our house. Anyone registered as a Republican isn't allowed to use it though and has to travel 30 miles and wait for 2 hours by which time their car has been towed and they have to walk home!

I can't vote, but I'll respond here with my husband's experience tomorrow. We live in a fairly small city, so I don't expect too much of a wait.

*bump*

Anyone voted yet? I'm walking over to the polling station in about half an hour (or as soon as I finish drying my hair and complete my morning transformation from hag to passable semblance of a human being) and vote before work.

Took longer to park than to vote. Weird though, this was the first election I can remember where other than for President there was not a single Democrat on the ballot. All Republicans ran unopposed; so your choice was Republican or write-in.

What is the difference between a smaller city/town and the suburbs?

The proximity to a major metro area?

Brandon, FL = suburbs

Lakeland, FL = small town

Both have about the same population / density but Brandon is just outside Tampa while Lakeland is about halfway between Tampa and Orlando so it doesn't really tie into either metro area.
