i have a friend who does not have a bank account she works for her parents. how would she show adequate funds to be able to get a tourist visa to nigera? ive telling her to get a bank account if only for the visa...but if she did it would show no activity except a big deposit. would that do? how much would she have to show in her account to be able to be approved for visa?

Just knowing that she has access to the money should be adequate amount of proof.

There's no need really for all that. She doesn't meed to show anything. Her invitation letter should suffice. She is going there not coming here. You don't have to show all that. Why would you even want to show some one your personal banking business. In my invitation my husband (than fiance') clearly stated all expenses would be incurred by him.

it's not required. I have had about 5 friends in the last 3 months and none of them sent that info. Just invitation letter, his passport biographical pages, the rest. No bank statements.

ok thanks. so i should have him send an invitation letter to my friend too? can he fax it?

Well you have to have a invitation letter or hotel reservation. The invitation letter is just so much more personal and stating why they are there means more. Less questions asked.

you can do it either way if you are going to be staying with someone in Nigeria they can invite you and guarentee they will care for you or you can send proof of the hotel reservation being paid for and round trip flight. If she shares an account with someone she would not need to give a statement she can get a letter from the bank indicating her average balance in her account over the last 6 months and what the balance is at the time she is appling. I went the hotel and letter way since we were staying at a hotel not at his home... I did it that way twice so far and havent had any issues....

The company I used did not JUST accept his letter of invitation. They CALLED me to ask that I get his bank statement to show that he could financially support me and send me back home or I could provide bank statements. They did not specify what had to be in the acct so I sent my bank statement and 403b statement.

Perhaps your friend's parents would be kind enough to give their statement for the visa. After all, if she got stuck she would have to call them anyway.
