Priority Date.

Hello VJ members,

On August 2, 2012 we received our NOA2 but I was checking for our priority date but it doesn't have one. What do you guys think this means? Does that mean we just have to wait until the embassy just remembers about our case and issues us the interview date? I am really confused we be waiting for almost two months for the interview date but yet we haven't receive any notice.

According to your timeline, it says that your case is at the consulate and you've received/submitted docs. You should contact the consulate since your case is currently with them.

After you submit your packet 3, send them an email saying when can you expect a date. They usually tell you that, in 4 weeks they will let you know.

Wait 2-3 weeks ask politely if they need anything else or if there is any update to interview date. In my case they replied to the email with all the documents and date, never got physical copy of it.

Email them at DhakaIV@state.gov with Subject: Regarding K1 case status of LAST NAME,FIRST NAME(DHK2012XXXXXX)

For K-1, your priority date is the date the petition was received. The date listed on your NOA1. NVC can confirm this as well when they forward the petition.

Priority Date should be the Receipt Date on your I-797 (NOA2)

Seems like NVC are inconsistent too. In the beginning of our process, I was told that May 24 (Receipt Date on I-797C was our Priority Date) Once it was approved, it became May 25 (Receipt Date on I-797). I've confirmed this with NVC and I was told to follow the 2nd date.

Yeah, there is plenty of inconsistency. They are both NOA1 dates though. One is the date they actually received it. The date in statement, "On, April 16, 2012, we received your petition etc." Then there is the "receipt" date. They usually differ by a day so in my case, I have the 16th and 17th to work with. I think I could pick either one, and it wouldn't make a difference. If I used the actual NOA2 date, not petition receipt date, I would be putting October 10, 2012.

Just another reference to inconsistency. NVC spelt my last name wrong in the letter and that email. I checked my I-129, my NOA1, and NOA2. No where was my last name spelt incorrectly. Go figure.
