Hello everyone,

First of all, after about 33-34 days after Response Review for RFE for my wife's scholarship as earning and my aunt's tax documents as co-sponsor, we finally got NOA for interview on Dec 4 at 9:15 AM. Yayyy!

Secondly, I would like to ask some questions:

1. Has anyone had experience with San Jose USCIS office?

2. The NOA requires me to bring all documentation establishing my eligibility for Lawful Permanent Resident Status. I wonder what that means. Aren't our Marriage Certificate, and probably school transcripts (for legal reasons for residing in US)?

3. Then NOA also requires original and copy of each supporting document that I submitted with my application, so are those ALL of the evidences such as my passports, bank statements, lease, tax papers, etc?

Those are my confusions so far, so I would like to appreciate everyone's input.

VisaJourney FTW!

Good luck to you!

1. No

2. All that stuff you mentioned should more or less cover it.

3. Couldn't hurt but probably not necessary. Just remember to bring the copy on the off chance they ask to actually see something.

For my wife's interview, we brought all that stuff except the duplicates of the financial stuff and the I-693 stuff and the only thing they asked to see was her passport so they could stamp it.

That's nice! I wish they only asked for my passport too. :) Although this will be interesting because my passport expired in the meantime and I just got my new one...are they going to stamp the old one which has the visa in it, or the new one which is completely empty? o.O

Congratulations to your wife! :) And thanks for your response as I was curious to hear the response on the OP's question. :)

Thanks SBB and congrats to your wife!

AnotherLostSoul: I have 2 passports at the moment: my old one has the visa and I-94 and it expired 2-3 years ago, and my new one, applied here through my country's consulate, has nothing in it. I use both of them for whatever paperwork related to USCIS (school, AOS) and none of them has posed any problems for me :D

Best luck to both of us :D

Oh okay, good to know! :) I will do the same as you then! :) At the time when I filed my AOS I only had the "old" one as, although I applied for a new one (also through my consulate here in the US) it was still on its way. But then after a week I filed my AOS I've got the new one. Okie, I'll bring both along to the interview. All the best to you as well! *fingers and toes crossed* :)

Take care!

My understanding is that the documentation they're looking for regarding eligibility to adjust status is your evidence of legal entry. So for us, it was my husband's stamped passport.

And yes, bring originals of everything. They probably won't ask to see any of it but you'll feel really stupid if they ask and it's sitting at home on your kitchen counter.

AOS

5/16/2012 - Package delivered to Chicago Lockbox at 1:33pm

5/21/2012 - Email/text notifications received at 4:50 p.m.

5/26/2012 - NOA hard copies received for I-130, I-485 and I-765

6/19/2012 - Biometrics completed.

7/02/2012 - Text/email/hard copy notification of interview.

7/30/2012 - EAD card production ordered.

8/02/2012 - Interview @ 2:00

8/02/2012 - Email notification of GC production at 5:30pm

8/07/2012 - Second GC production email

8/07/2012 - EAD received.

8/08/2012 - GC mailed.

8/09/2012 - Welcome letter and I-130 approval letter received.

8/10/2012 - Green card received. :)

:) LOL I would hate myself if a document was sitting on my kitchen counter while I'm embarrassingly sitting front of the officer blinking big waving with my hand vehemently while pretending to have a huge smile on my face saying "HIiiiii!!!" :) Thanks for the info! :)

1. When we had our interview, there was 3 couples including us. I think the others 2 has their lawyers with them. We went by ourself. Our IO is an Italian-American guy. He's awesome. We had a good conversation. It's fun, relaxing,...

2. 3. You never know what they gonna ask you, so bring EVERYTHING you have. If you have too many and need to pack those paperwork in a carry-on luggage, DO IT.
