I am not Indian. Canadians are different when it comes to visit and study. thank you for your advise - read Teddy B's replies.

Teddy,

I read the link you've sent me I did not find any information about that new form you've mentioned . so is that apart of the requirments?

I'm not sure why that last link above isn't working properly, it should take you to a page that explains the change from B2 to F1. Try going to USCIS.gov, then enter the following phrase into the search bar, Special Instructions for B-1/B-2 Visitors Who Want to Enroll in School. Click on the search result with the same wording, that will take you to the page for the information you need. If you have any questions regarding the process, try typing them into the search window on USCIS.gov or you can try the search feature here on VJ, you should get all the info you need there.

Be advised that you may be scrutinized by USCIS for attempting this change of status. Being married to a US permanent resident and a baby on the way may cause suspiscion.

Just a quick question,

Is this the same procedure with all prospective students trying get student visa to come to the U.S. I have my brother who is 25 living in Turkey, so the same I-20 ... means we have to get a school to approve his I-20 then send that to him and he just need fill a form (f1) and provide all the required documents for f1 form and submitted with the I-20? Or this is a procedure for Canadian only?

I believe the procedure for obtaining an F1 visa is the same for everyone. What makes yours different is that you are already in the US and are attempting to change your status. Whether or not you or your brother are approved will depend on your specific set of circumstances.

And thanks Teddy....

Hello Teddy,

can you please let me know where the I-20s are processed .. Is I-120 an Immigration form or an educational institution form? who is the decision maker of ''issuing'' I-120s?

Please clearify.

Thanks!

Thanks you everyone.

I did some research and now I am ready to apply for my I-20 through a school. Lets say my I-20 is going to be approved and I am at the port of entry and the officer is asking why am I trying to do this particular program in U.S. why not in Canada. What am I supposed to say? However this program I am trying to study is not available in Canada, is that enough convincing answer?

Expect that question and answer honestly, your answer seems sufficient

Also be you will asked for ties to Canada as a student visa is a non-immigrant visa

And be asked how you intend to pay for things like insurance, tuition, books, etc

good luck
