Ahem. I thought we were over with this arbitrarily moving of topics that had a nexus to the forum in which they were posted. What gives? You fired on organizer for doing this. At least have the offending mod/organizer make a note why there was no nexus to the forum in which it was posted, or why, in the case of the upper forums, the OP might be better served by moving the topic to another forum.

Moving Guide

When Not to Move:

There will always be overlap between forums so often a topic may fit equally well in both. If this is the case the topic should remain in the original forum it was posted in.

If a topic contains issues that are related to more than one forum(s) theme but however the initial AND primary topic relates to the Forum it is currently in then the topic should not be moved.

If a topic seems out of place but does not have a clear forum it could be moved to, then it should be left where it was posted.

Example: Person A discusses a general K1 question but then also talks about Adjustment of Status and other issues. In this case the topic should remain in the K1 forum since their initial and primary topic was K1 related but then they also discussed other issues.

When to move:

The initial AND primary theme of a topic does not fit the description of the Forum it was posted in and another forum's description fits the thread's theme MUCH better. In this case the topic should be moved to the correct Forum.

General Rule:

--o If the initial and primary theme of a topic does not relate to the forum it is in and another forum is MUCH more applicable then it can be moved.

--o If there is any ambiguity or the topic seems vague and clearly does not have another forum that fits MUCH better then leave it where it is.

Special Rules

Topics in the Regional Forums area can contain the following (without being moved):

--o General discussion on issues relating to that relevant region

--o Immigration Discussion of topics specific to that region (ex: special embassy procedures, help on finding local doctors, etc)

--o Off Topic Discussion intended to be of interest to the specific regional forum participants (cultural discussion, local food, travel, etc)

Topics in the Regional Forums area should be moved to the proper forums for

--o Discussions on general immigration steps (especially those steps before and after embassy processing) Note: Do not move topics unless you have read them to be sure they are "general" in nature. Some times they may contain regional issues that may not appear in the topic title. If in doubt, do not move the topic.

Hi there. Can you be more specific or provide a link?

Easy. Go to the P&R Forum, and see which two topics were moved to the Off Topic forum today, and then look at the history of the various topics that were moved in a similar manner over the last few weeks. It is not like some member is trying to get an answer to a pending immigration issue, and an experienced mod or organizer is making a judgement call on which forum is more likely to come up with a useful answer. These are topics posted in the P&R Playground, where they won't interfere with the normal business of this website. Moving these topics made by the usual antagonists to a normally peaceful area where junior members can interact on non-immigration issues is counterproductive to the purpose for which the P&R Forum was created in the first place.

It's hard to say it's arbitrary. The topic was reported so at least 2 people agreed that it should be moved.

I don't think the problem really exists in the upper forums. It appears to be that the scope of topics that belong in P&R is different depending on who you ask.

Some people think residents of NY arming themselves is a political topic, others don't. Some people think parents attacking their daughter with acid is a religious topic, and others don't.

IMO both topics had very weak connections to P&R. I would be looking more at if a pattern is occuring rather than a couple of topics being moved. It's the nature of the forum that there is not going to be %100 agreement every time.

I think the two topics that were moved should have been moved. Granted I haven't read any of the other topics NOT moved but their headings are fine.

The reason I think those topics needed to be moved is because the OPs involved ONLY posted news stories. They didn't open a dialogue about the article, just posted the article. In one post I actually commented when someone complained about the move and stated (more or less) that the OP didn't state a political or religious point of view about the article so it didn't belong in the forum in which it was posted. It honestly seemed solely like a trolling post, posted to inflame people about certain countries or religions. The OP didn't post their opinion so what was the point in posting it otherwise if not to start a dialogue?

It's P&R. Look through the OP's in P&R and tell me how often the OP had an opinion until a few post later on. Again it's P&R and it's obvious by your post your not familiar with that forum.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Yah. we know how you feel, you stated it after the rose ceremony.

Two roses were handed out by a mod in the 'moving' announcement. But, the mod didn't say why they moved it. Idk what the roses were about. There were a couple posters that quickly voiced their approval of the move.

The mod that moved the thread was asked. 'why'? The question has yet to be answered.?.?

I'm glad you're in approval of the other thread heading in P&R...their headings are fine...lmao
