Hi all,

Well my K-1 visa interview is at 8:30am on Friday and I believe I am all set.

Just wanted to share what I have prepared to take to the interview. Between us we have gathered EVERYTHING we can just in case, many of you may think overkill but we both agreed it's better to have and not need than need and not have!

Folder 1 (Front of document pack):

  • Interview Letter (To show before entering embassy)
  • Signed MRV Receipt (To show before entering embassy)
  • Passport and 2 Photo Page Photocopies (I know it says you don't need this but just in case)
  • US Sized Passport Photos (I know I only need two but I have 8 just in case!)
  • Original Birth Certificate & 2 Photcopies
  • Original Police Certificate & 2 Photocopies

Folder 2 (Financial Stuff):

  • I-134
  • Tax Returns
  • Payslips
  • Letter from Employer

Folder 1 & 2 are the Essentials, other than that I have:

Folder 3:

  • Spare DS-156
  • Spare DS-156K
  • Spare DS-157
  • Spare DS-230 Parts 1 and 2

Folder 4 (Evidence of Ongoing Relationship):

  • Photos with date stamps
  • Letters of intent to marry from both of us
  • Wedding Chapel receipt
  • Wedding ring receipts
  • Boarding Passes/Electronic Flight Tickets
  • Google Chat Logs
  • Skype Logs

Folder 5:

  • I-129F Package (again they probably won't want to see this at all but just in case)

Anyways hope this gives some of you that are anxious about preparing for the interview (as I was myself!) a clearer idea of what to prepare.

Wish me luck!

Stuart

Very good list Stuart and Katie! Not overkill. Better prepared than not! We actually have 5 folders too: K1 requirements for interview, proof of relationship, files of his parents if in case they accept a co-sponsor, the medical requirements just in case they require the information, and then the lat folder is reserved for extra copies of our files.

Let us know how your interview goes okay? :) We're excited for you, I know I am.

Hi Guys.. VISA APPROVED!!!! It's a blessed day for me and thanked God for everything. They asked for my fiancee's 1040 and w-2 and then just asked me questions about my Fiancee's hobbies, dislikes, about the wedding plan and about Georgia it took me 4 minutes for the interview :) Praying for everyone here.

Thank you! everything will do good.. I think no one was disapproved for k1 visa. If you miss something they will ask you to send them the documents and then they will approve your visa but it is better if you are ready for everything. You will do great :)

The embassy got packet 3 from us on Sunday and we emailed on Monday seeing if they would give us an email back with the date. They did reply with "You will be emailed your appointment notice soon." We are now waiting. It is now Thursday and nothing. I am hoping the Riyadh embassy hurries up. She's extended her job until August 29th and we don't want to extend any further. The 4 month wait to NOA2 turned into 7 months thanks to Obama's dream act! :( This stress is getting to us both. I'm alone trying to plan the wedding in September.....

Aug 2, 2011 - Met online via a mutual friend.
Dec 2, 2011 - Vivian traveled to USA to attend a medical conference and had our first date. On Dec 10, 2011 - Vivian returned home.
May 15,2012 - Vivian traveled to USA to spend a month with me. smile.png
Sep 15,2012 - Met Vivian in Frankfurt Germany and on to Prague Czech Republic to celebrate our birthdays.
Sep 24, 2012 - Left Viena Austria. The last time I was with Vivian.
Nov 11, 2012 - Mailed in I-129F
Nov 19, 2012 - NOA1 recieved

June 13, 2013 - NOA2 approved.

June 17, 2013 - NOA2 hard copy received.

Visa Approved biggrin.png

Got there at 7:30am for my 8:30 interview and there was already a queue formed. Took about 30 minutes to get through the queue and security and into the embassy. Then took about another 30 minutes before I went to the first window and handed over my forms and passport. This first bit took about 5-10 minutes.

Then another 30 minute wait until I was called for my interview, which again lasted 5-10 minutes. Was asked how we met, if I had met her parents, where she worked, and when we started talking about marriage and that was it. Then another 10 minute wait in line to pay for the courier.

So all in all it took just over 2 hours, even though today the embassy was REALLY busy.

Now to tie up all the loose ends here in the UK and finish planning our 31st August wedding :)

I'm so excited people are getting approved!! Congrats to evon24 & Stuart and Katie!!!!

So, Em had his physical a week ago and picked up the sealed results this morning to take to the interview. Unfortunately, they wouldn't give him a copy of the form. They told him to ask the embassy for a copy after they open the envelope. We'll see how that goes...

Anyway, his interview is July 29th!! We're excited and nervous!! Last night I checked the interview reviews on the Ghana portal for the past month and they were all very positive, which was very comforting. smile.png
