If you purchase the ticket for him. They do not expect him to have your credit card, so he would not need to show a credit card. Show only the itinerary.

Validation of the credit card is a step the airlines do to prevent fraud. Some airlines are stricter about this requirement than others. It is always better to prevalidate the card/charge than to have him be denied boarding.

i purchased british airways once for my mum and siblings and had to go to JFK here to prevalidate at their counter. They just noted it in their system and my people were able to fly from Lagos without problems. so check with the airlines. KLM, Airfrance do not require you do this. Delta made me fly the next day( plus $250 rebooking fee) to Nigeria just becuase i forgot to bring my credit card ( I was not going to use it in Nigeria)with me to the airport...I usually fly airfrance.

Also if you book through an agent regardless of the airline , you could have the presentation of cc issue since there is an intermediary involved now.

This is peak travel season so BE PREPARED to pay some hefty fare. I have been having sleepless nights past three days trying to catch a cheap fare for my mum for end of Nov/Dec lagos-NY

With Qatar? ..... not delta.

They supply you a visa for entry, give you transport to a hotel, feed you , wake you up, feed you again, and take you back to board flight when your layover is 8 hours or more.
