My hubby's 2nd interview is this Wednesday Nov 7th. We remain positive visa will be issued and I'm looking ahead about available options booking his travel to US. Purchasing ticket with credit card is preferred but I'm hitting obstacles at travel websites like cheapair.com. Because of 9/11, as you all probably know, traveler must show credit card at the airport. This will not be possible. Can anyone tell me about their experience? Is it required to purchase the ticket in Nigeria, meaning cash only please? Grrrr. Is it required to purchase a one-way ticket or can we buy a round trip ticket since those are usually cheaper?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond.

A few vj members posted that they showed their credit card at the ticket counter in their area. Not sure how it works but you should call the airline that you will be using and see what their policies are and what you can do. Best of luck too you and safe travels.

I should explained better.

I'll be returning to the US next week. Hubby will be traveling to US alone and I'll meet him at POE (likely Atlanta, GA). We're not in the position to pay $2K for his flight. His travel date will be at the end of November or sometime in December at the earliest. I'm wondering how other VJers deal with the issue of presenting credit card at time of checking-in. The card will be with me here in the US.

They were not traveling with their loved ones either. I t is the airlines that wants to see the card...so you should be able to take it to the ticket counter of the airline you will be going through and they will be able to pull up the information and put in the system that the card was presented at what ever location it is that you go to. Call the airline and see if this is ok and if you will need to provide your fiance with a copy of the card and your id, for when he checks in. You should be able to do this without any problems just call and check with the airlines to see what all they will need, but it has been done.

You can usually go to either the airline office or airport counter. You will need your ID , your credit card and the bio pages of your spouse/fiances passport. You will be validating the card and they will note the ticket as prevalidated. As them for a copy ( never trust it will be ok at the airport) then scan and email the copy to your spouse/fiance in case he has to get loud with the people at the airport.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

you can purchase the ticket while you are in Nigeria with cash of course. We are going to use Qatar one way ticket is 850 which they have an office in lagos then once he is in usa, he will get on another flight either delta or united airline to fly to my destination which will be $80 one way. I will purchase the delta or united ticket at my local airport with my credit card.

If you purchase the ticket for him. They do not expect him to have your credit card, so he would not need to show a credit card. Show only the itinerary.
