I-485 Background Check / Defaulted Loans

I need advise from someone who may have experienced a similar situation.

Back in 2007, I was working in Qatar as telecom engineer. When I went to India for vacation, my employer informed me that I was terminated and my working/residence visa in Qatar will be cancelled. I was not able to go back to Qatar.

Since I cannot go back to Qatar, I was forced to abandon my car loan and personal loan. Now, the bank has been chasing me and threatening my parents in India.

I went to the US on 2008. I am currently on H1b. I-140 is approved. I cannot apply for I-485 yet because India is not current.

My question is, about I-485 Fingerprint/FBI Background Check....Since I have defaulted my loans in Qatar, and the banks has filed a case against me, will my "future I-485 application" be denied?

If yes, will I be asked to leave USA?

Thanks. - CH

It will have absolutely no effect on your I-485.

It will have absolutely no effect on your I-485.

How did you say it will have no effect? Is it because your spouse was out of status? If you are a citizen, your wife will have the right to live with you in the US despite of her previous offence. Not unless she has done something really bad....

However, as for me, I am single and have no citizen relatives in the US...

On the otherhand, it does feel better to know that other people who had a huge problem/doubts before were able to make it through..

Thank you...

Are you saying that because of non payment the load originators filed a legal case ( and won by default ) and you now have a warrent of some sort there or are you simply being chased by international bill collectors ?

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

How did you say it will have no effect?

Because USCIS doesn't care about your debts.
