Hey everyone,

My wife is awaiting word on her AOS interview (for K-1 visa), and we are wondering if both of us have to be there for it. The reason I ask is that I have law enforcement training all month and next, and will subsequently be out of town for the total duration.

What does my wife need to bring to the interview, and do I have to be there?

You need to be there.

From the Form I-797c, AOS appointment interview notice that we received related to our upcoming interview:

"If your eligibility is based on your marriage, your husband or wife must come with you to the interview."

I would suggest that you review your AOS appointment letter for particular details and consequences.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Wow, so there is no recourse for something like this if the USC spouse must undergo paramilitary/military training? I appreciate the answers, guys, and will contact USCIS post haste.
