Second, are you SURE this is Reye's Syndrome? It's a very rare condition in adults. Also, it's associated with asprin use.

it is quite possible that her liver damage is related to malaria. malaria is quite common in china, and results in liver scarification (chinese call it "hard liver", and relate it to too much red meat - um, yeah). i have seen cases of this in friends as young as 35.

when a person has malaria the first bloom is dramatic, and subsequent blooms less so, as the body identifies and fights subsequent blooms more efficiently. in between blooms the parasite eggs encapsulate in cysts in the liver, destroying tissue at eruption. 30-40 blooms (20 years) is enough to significantly impair a liver. like everything else negative in china, malaria is understated, but nonetheless, real.

malaria in china is usually plasmodium vivax, and usually described as limited to the southern provinces, but has been experienced in epidemic proportions in mid-country provinces such as Henan and Anhui as recently as 1995-1997. having contracted vivax in Henan myself in 2005 i am quite well studied in the issue.

Thanks for your opinion Harpa Timsah,

Thanks for the advice unlockingsky,

Thanks so much for the info justashooter,

I appreciate your replies.

My fiancee met me at the train station when I arrived and we caught another train or something, then a taxi to a hotel close to her home where I checked in.

Today we will go to the hospital together and find out as much as we can.

Thanks again,

Hello,

My fiancee says the doctor told her that the test results say she has a healthy liver.

Of course I am very happy and relived.

I still want her to do more tests of course to see if there is another problem.

Thanks to those of you who supported me during this difficult time.

How about the cranium?

Still insist on stalking me I see.

You are on my Ignore List... That's all I can do as the moderators of this forum don't allow any confrontations, rudeness, standing up to bullies, or anything that would not look like pretty pink flowers blossoming in the springtime.

Whatever you say is insignificant to me. You as a person are insignificant in my world.

Go stalk someone else,

Hi Professor MuDelphi,

Your Chinese wife did not know what kind of a person she was tying the knot with, when she agreed to marry you, did she? Because of the language barrier.

She didn't know just how BAD of a deal she got with you, did she?

She is in for one REALLY BIG rude awakening when she finds out what you're all about.

The people in this forum already know.

I sure hope you got a prenup signed, or do you own nothing of worth so it wasn't necessary?

Hello,

Some of you might be wondering, "A healthy liver? What about the 'high transaminases' and so on?"

I have no idea. I'm just here for the ride on the Coocoo Train.

If one day someone can figure women out, they should be given all the gold in Britian, one of the islands in the Carribean and be crowned King of France as a token of our appreciation.

P.S. It is taking forever for me to access this forum (maybe my IP address has been partially blocked by a forum Administrator), so I am done with this forum... for awhile

I went through something similiar a few years ago. I was in a relationship with a Chinese woman and we both enthusiastically started the K1 process. But I later began to notice that the closer we got to getting the visa approved, the more reluctant she got about coming to the U.S. Then, the medical problems began...

To make a long story short, all of her medical problems were diagnosed by a medical doctor to be the result of a "severe mental breakdown". In other words she was "crazy". I have dated enough American women in my life to know what crazy is, and she was no where near that! She simply did not want to leave China and I think this was her way of getting out of the relationship without me losing face. I don't blame her and I still think she is a wonderful person. She just couldn't live in the U.S. and that is understandable.

So I moved on and am now happily married. Things really do work out for the better. I know you are tired of everyone throwing thier opinions at you, but your options appear to be limited to either marrying her and living in seperate countries until you can live with her in China, or to move on.

Sorry about what you are going through. I know what it is like. Good luck to you.
