couple questions on form filling

Hey All

My daughter POE on a K-1 through the Detroit Ambassador Bridge on Oct 22. Everything went smoothly, with no problems whatsoever. They even commented on how it was nice to see someone entering legally instead of trying to sneak over

So, as some of you from the Canada section may remember, I'm doing all the paperwork for her...... lucky girl!

I have a couple questions:

On the 1-485, it asks for the nonimmigrant visa number. What is this?? The WAC # on the K-1 in her passport???

Also, a question about change of address. When they were going through the K-1 process her fiance lived in an apt and that was the address they had put where she would move when she entered the US. Well, in the meantime, they bought a house and when she POE'd she moved into that house.

Does she still need to do a change of address???

I think that's all I'm confused about........... for now. Thanks!

The non-immigrant visa number is the red number on her K-1 visa. It is NOT the WAC number (WAC# = case number of her I-129F, which is quite useless now).

No need to do a change of address. Just put her new address on the AOS paperwork. This is where she's going to receive her notice of action and all other USCIS letters. :)

Are you also preparing her EAD (I-765) and AP (I-131) paperwork?

Awesome, thanks so much!! That's what I thought about the address, but wanted to get a second opinion. Yes, I'm preparing the EAD andAP as well.

Okay, I have another question - On the I-765, the manner of her last entry was K-1 nonimmigrant fiancee, but what should I put for her Current Immigrations Status? the same? They are now married, but I just want to make sure I put the correct info they are looking for

"K-1 visa holder", and to anticipate another question you may have, the category is ( c ) ( 9 ). :)

Thanks again, Didopage! I had originally put the wrong (a) (6) as the category........ whew! Thankful for that info!

It's been a while since I filled out the last set of forms for her K-1 package 3 (she interviewed in Montreal in June), so I totally forgot about the from samples at the top of the page. After another thorough search I found them!

Yippy!! I just love this site. It and all the contributors have been invaluable through this process!! Thank you everyone!! :)

I have the forms all filled and printed out. They are back from their honeymoon on monday and we're going to visit next weekend! She should be able to send out the whole package the following Monday!!

Yes, it helps a lot! I'm glad I found VisaJourney too. Each time, I was very confident on the packages we sent and I knew what to expect next. :)

I don't know if you've seen that checklist, but the one from Vanessa&Tony is great. Here is the link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/235331-aos-ead-ap-from-k1-the-aussie-way-doc-list-included/

Just keep in mind some info are outdated, like the total amount of the check for AOS from K-1 is currently $1,070 (same if you do AOS+EAD+AP because EAD and AP fees are waived).
