I just got off the phone with a friends daughter who is a CAD/USA immigration lawyer. She suggested she has had clients who have not even had to undergo an interview when immigrating to the US. She also suggested I should contact the NVC and request either a phone interview or one closer to the west coast as I live just outside Vancouver.

With a CR1 Visa, has anyone ever heard of such a request being honored? Would such a request now delay the imminent scheduling of a potential early December interview? :help:

If you live just outside of vancouver, why wouldn't you just go to vancouver?

Also, if this is the case, I'm on board because my husband and I have been married for 2 years so I think our case is as solid as any. Why not right? My only question would be I guess what do you do with the medical stuff?

I've just always heard they only do K1 Visas in Vancouver. Don't ask me why. Good point on the medical however, that would obviously have to be submitted somewhere.

For immigration visas you MUST have an interview and medical. No way around it, no phone interview.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

There is no questioning the medical but I'm curious why my friends immigration lawyer daughter would suggest she's had clients attain Visas without interviews if it weren't true. You're suggesting she is misinforming me? Just for the record, I have not retained her services nor have any intentions of doing so. The discussion just happened innocently.

I did attempt to clarify it was a marriage visa, CR1 specifically and not a Fiance visa. And she did ask if we were already married. Yeah, cus that was my first thought. She's confused.

Pot is legal in Canada. She's smoking when giving you advice, apparently.

LOL!! Given the family she comes from I'm doubtful of that. I'm just not sure how long she has been in the business.

I hired a lawyer to help me out for my k1 visa. I know we're talking about a different kind of visa but still. I have serious doubts about lawyers and attorneys since then. Thanks to visajourney I have had to guide my lawyers through differents process. Im not sure, even if they do have the title they might not have the right information. If i would have listened to my lawyers i would have had to get 2 medicals, and send out 420$ for my I-130 which i did not need, and thats not counting all the other expenses they had me go through. So yes be carefull. you may want to get the info but dont act upon it if your not sure. It may be better to take the long way in then to take the wrong one. By the way pot is legal in canada for medical reasons and not for pleasure. Not yet anyways !!!

I suppose it would have to have some pretty special circumstances to do so.
