If you go to your account on the USCIS webpage and under 'My Portfolio', you see the list of your cases. The last updated date is the last time it was touched. It could mean anything really - that the file was transferred between office, that you've got a RFE coming, or that you are about to be approved. It is just an indication that someone has actually touched your file.

I don't think ours was transferred anywhere and I was never able to see it online - I just got the message about not being found at this time - until I checked yesterday evening on the off chance and there it was! So happy - I was so worried when I couldn't see it.

Hello Tracking My File:

-----------------------

Married: 11/03/2012

Fedex Package Sent to Chicago Lockbox: I-130: 11/12/2012

Fedex received at location: 11/13/2012

NOA1 email & text received: 11/15/2012

Case transfered to USCIS National Benefits Center

Check for $420 Cleared: 11/16/2012

NOA1 Letter Received from USCIS USCIS National Benefits Center: 11/17/2012

My MSC No doesn't show up Under case status online. Complained by calling, sent an email, said it will take

them 10 days to research and respond. Still waiting for their email to figure what happened with my file and the status.

Update: My File was touched today between 9.00am-10.am CST. 12/18th/2012: Online Status updated, and it now says:

Initial Review

On November 13, 2012, we received this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators.

I went ahead and created my online account for status updates.

Hope this helps our NOV filers & keeps them going....:-)

Thank You.

I can now see my case status online too....finally!! :D

I was slightly disappointed that it only came up with the "initial review" status but given the speed so many others are being processed I'm hoping that it won't stay at initial review for long!
