I think our local office would be Atlanta but I've heard that they're super slow so I am really hoping that's not the case!!

Yes, Atlanta is preety slow. Wouldn't be bad idea if you have your husband visit your Local office and try to find out. Local office provided lots of information and by going there I avoided getting RFE(They were going to send an RFE about my marriage date) as I answered some of their questions and cleared doubts.

Perhaps, I'll get him to call and speak to a tier 2 officer and we'll make our next move after that. Thanks for your advice :)

Hello,

We are November filers. My husband and I just joined this site. We filed my I-130 late November, and we received our NOA 1 a couple of days later- and since then have been in the land of "initial review". NOA 1 seem to be from NBC office. Reading some stories on these forums, we find that many that had filed a couple of months after we did, have been already approved. I wonder how cases are organised. will the papers stay at the NBC ofice, or be moved to a local office of my husbands state- or the lawyers state. This is all so frustrating- though we see that many are in the same situation.

Welcome to VJ.. Good Luck on your journey.

Please update your timeline...

No office in Alabama, you have to go to -> 2150 Parklake Drive, Atlanta, Georgia 30345.

Atlanta local office is all tied up.. so its kinda going slow right now, but you should definitely call USCIS, talk to Tier2 officer and ask specifically if your case is currently at Local office or not. If your case was at NBC, would have been approved by now, so most likely your case is currently being processed at Atlanta office.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE LINK.

this is my suggestion and i tell you this with full confidence this is the best way to go - a "service request" on your spouse's petition. i filed my wife's petition with a receipt date of 05 Nov 2012. i was able to check my wife's status on the USCIS website on 17 Dec 2012.

i asked for a "service request" on the 18th of january 2013, got a response from that "service request" on 24th or 25th of january 2013, made the INFOPASS appointment to my local field office the same day i got my response, my wife's petition was approved on february, 14 2013 - my valentine's day gift to her, cancelled INFOPASS appointment the same day i got the approval.

the"service request" gave me a complete and accurate picture of where my wife's petition was located and if hadn't been approved, i knew where it was rather than getting information that i didn't know already or none at all.

let me know if you have any questions...

Thanks for this suggestion. I will tell my husband about this. We are also a November filer. We filed Nov.6 and have not received update since we got the first NOA. I am getting really impatient about this whole process. We called USCIS number and the lady I talked to said that process is going from 7 to 8 months now for i-130. ;(

i found my "service request" letter from USCIS and it said i asked for a "service request" on my wife's petition on the 03 January 2013 and they started the process on 18 January 2013. perhaps they may start yours earlier than they did mine.

to quote what it said in the letter -

"Recently, you contacted USCIS concerning your pending application or petition. Systems show that your application or petition has not been adjudicated and is still pending at your local USCIS Field Office. Therefore we are unable to respond to your request. We request that you schedule an InfoPass appointment at www.uscis.gov to discuss your pending application or petition with your local field office.

Please remember that this is not an interview, it is merely a pass to enter the Field Office to discuss the status of your pending application or petition filed with USCIS. You are advised to take this letter with you to your Info Pass appointment."

The important things to note are that it was at my local field office and that i could also use this letter to request an appointment to see someone at my local field office. They don't do walk-ins.

hopefully, they'll approve your petition before you do a "service request." best of luck to the both of you....

Thank you for your suggestion. I will definately tell my husband about this. How did you ask for service request? I guess we need to call them first to see if our case is still at NBC or where it is. If it is at NBC, then there is no way for my husband to be able to go to that office.

If it has been this long your case it not at NBC. They can only do a service request if you are beyond process times and I am unsure that they publish those I-130 numbers anymore. At 5 months maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to do it. More helpful might be an infopass with the local USCIS office.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.

Yea I am suspecting the same- that it is not at NBC anymore- so much for paying lawyers to get updates- ah so frustrating.
