Still waiting for AOS interview

My husband, a French citizen, wants to go to college. Unfortunately the college says they cannot grant financial aid until he gets his green card. I've done some snooping, and others in our exact situation (French citizen with similar filing dates) received their green card months ago. When will it be our turn? How can we make sure our case isn't lost?

He arrived on a K-1 visa. After getting married, we filed the AOS application in early June and received the NOA by mid-month.

Thanks

I see from your timeline that you received an EAD card. Would the college accept this pending the Greencard. Also I see you were transferred about 2 weeks before I was, to CSC. Oddly enough I received my Greencard last month. Maybe there is hope that you will receive your within the next few weeks and maybe you will be waiting another 9 months. I'd work on the college, they may be more flexible than USCIS. Good luck.

AOS Timeline
Filed 15th June, 2012
NOA date 18th June
Bio appt 20th July
Transferred to CSC 21st July, 2012

Received Green Card 6th October. No Interview. Amazing!
Thanks for all the help, see you again in June 2014

It's nothing about his citizenship, it's about how busy is your local USCIS office, and if NBC decided that your case was interview-waivable. I see that his case got transferred to CSC at the beginning of July, and so, you will most likely not have an interview.

CSC is overloaded right now, and they are slowly adjudicating cases. There are cases way older than his, transferred to CSC, that are still waiting. I suggest that you follow the AOS CSC transferres topic, so you can discuss with people in the same case and maybe, feel better. :)

If your case was tranfered to CSC (california) then its probably you will have to wait a few more months as that center is way behind right now! To give you an example, I filed for AOS (from k1 visa) in May and was tranferred to CSC in July and still NO news of the GC approval! I have a friend that filed in January 2012 (got transferred in Feb) and was approved recently in October. That other french citizens have been approved already has nothing to do with your case.

I doubt your case is lost, otherwise that would mean my case was buried under other files!!! In october I talked to this lady (via info pass appointment at local USCIS office) and she confirmed me that CSC is very slow right now and that probably I would be hearing about the GC approval or interview around end of this year or beginning of 2013 :crying:

Did you already receive your EAD and AP card?

Thanks all for your support! I'm more relieved to know a lot of people are in the same situation. And yes, it's in the CSC (California), which I guess is really backed up.

We have received the EAD & AP, but it doesn't seem to matter. Schools can only submit a green card, and other sources have said that you have to wait for the green card because until you get that, you're not necessarily approved to be a permanent resident. After calling hundreds of times (or so it feels), someone at USCIS finally said they can look into it only after four months of waiting. Since it's been more than four months for us, the person checked and said the card should be issued any day now. Let's see...

@Didopage, you're one of the closest timelines for us and you've had your green card for two months! It was actually your profile that inspired me to write this post ;) As for the threads, I'm regularly checking them, but all they do is depress me. Some people have been waiting for eight months or much, much more. I'm hoping and praying that we don't end up like that!

I got lucky so don't look too much at my timeline. :P Plus it would be comparable if you were living in the same area as me (same USCIS office). But your husband's case got transferred to CSC so the only timelines that you can compare with are the ones from people who got transferred at CSC too (but I think you got it now). And again, it's not about his citizenship... you're not dealing with the French Embassy anymore. :)

For now, there's really nothing much you can do but wait, unfortunately. Be strong!!
