So, we got the visa, we are prepared to leave Sat and I'm thinking of all the things we need to do when we get home, like getting her medical coverage. They told us we need to do this within 30 daysto add her to my husband's insurance but we need a SS # . We checked the box on the 230 but they said if you don't get it in 3 wks to go to a SS office but when you go to the SS website it says only children with permission to work can get one. None of that makes sense. Help!

1. You do not need a SSN to get on insurance. Talk to a supervisor who can figure it out.

2. The GC the child gets (or the I-551 stamp at POE) makes them "work eligible." It is kind of silly, but your child has all the eligibility s/he needs.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
