Quick update: MIL left yesterday.

My hubby and me are really relieved and happy.

She kept the garage opener but my hubby changed the code so she cannot use hers anymore. We also put locks up at the side gates of the house and hopefully we get permission from our landlord to change the locks at the doors out.

Thank you all for your kind support!

Congrats!! The landlord should be fine with the lock change as long as you provide them with a copy. Sooner the better honestly!

Truth is, if someone walks out of a house, and is not on the lease, and you change the locks, and put her %$!@# out the door, she's out of luck. She has no way and no right to enter your home after that.

Summary: When you are not on a lease and get tossed to the curb you're outa luck.

I woulda already done it (around the time the threats were being thrown around) Your patience for this crone is admirable.

I was going to do that! I just hope I can do it fast enough :)

He can't drop sponsorship. What a moron.

She didn't leave yet.

My husband just received a text message from his uncle (my sponsor) that he's dropping sponsorship.

If anything fails could I just sponsor myself?

Unfortunately that's not true. As I said in one of my other posts, I looked into this when one of my husbands friends needed to move in. He was living here for several months and I found out (many sources online) that after a certain period of living somewhere with permission, lease or not, you can't just kick them out. Well you can try, but they don't have to go.

The last one gives you the legal term for it "established residency". So you'd have to give 30 days notice to move out as if it were a month-to-month lease.

She didn't even live with us in this house for a full month. I'm just so relieved she is gone. I wonder if USCIS wants an additional interview with us if they really sent that letter off. In case they did, they accuse us of having a sham marriage and we are in the process of a divorce. I'm just laughing about that because my hubby and me are just fine :)
