Can she still harm me in any way by telling USCIS that my marriage was fraud even if it wasn't and we're still together?

Harm you? No. It could make USCIS interview you where you otherwise wouldn't be interviewed. Or might ask you a few more questions, but outside of that no. If you have a legit relationship having a stokes interview, or being asked more questions won't bother you because you'll know the answers. And she will look very foolish. Not to mention lying to a government agency isn't exactly the best thing for HER!

She's trying to threaten me so that I leave the country or lose my job or even to kill me and my husband. I'm actually scared of her.

She threatens to kill you? What does she say? Does your husband hear this? Is it legal in your state to record her? If so I would record her and I would have a restraining order put on her :S Yelling and screaming is one thing, threatening your life is entirely another!

If you ever fear for your safety, call 911 and let the professionals sort it out. Don't decide on your own or with the help of the internet, call 911 right away.

I called 911 that night and she admitted saying it to the cops. I was so scared. They didn't take her away or anything so she's still around and still very angry. I'm not sure if I can record her I will check on that. We agreed to stay out of each other's way but that's almost not possible. She's still very angry. I'm afraid it's going to happen again.

File a police report at the police station.

When yer there, ask the desk sargeant what the local laws are for using a taser or a maser.

If it's legal to use, get one (or the other) .

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

So my MIL and my sister in law are not on the lease. Only my husband and me are on the lease, which was confirmed by our landlord.

Now she said she's going to leave on the 10th. Then I was going to pick up my security deposit check from the last lease with all of our names on it (husband, MIL and me). She said she's not going to leave until we all sign that check so she can deposit it all for herself. I was really calculating that check into my income because we need to buy a car. But if I buy that car I will not be able to pay rent. If I pay the rent, we will not be able to get to work. Bus connections are not around at our house.

I was thinking about an eviction since she's not officaly on the lease, only as a resident but not someone who has to pay rent. I want her out. She really wants to make us lose our jobs.

I want to get a car really badly. So tomorrow I'm just going to buy it and go back to that house.

I was also thinking about just breaking the lease but I don't want our credit to get too bad where we cannot rent anymore.

What do you all think? Do I have other options?

Have you asked the person who is issuing the security deposit to return it in three separate checks? or at least separate ones? She's not entitled to that money unless she actually paid it. Most people/places might return a check like that because they understand when people stop living together it can be bad. Or ask them just to put your husband, or your name on it. Ask them what your options are. DO NOT let her blackmail you.

If they're not able to do that, I would make sure YOU collect the check, and take it to your bank and ask them if they will cash / bank it. I would not put it past her to forge a signature (given her current behaviour) so hide the check and don't let her know you have it.

If that doesn't work I would go to your local sheriff/police officer location and tell them the situation, including her refusing to leave and not being on the lease. Ask them what your rights are, or where you can go to ask your rights for your state. If there's no other way, I would go the eviction route. I would also make sure the person who is returning the past deposit does NOT submit a check to anyone but you until the situation is resolved.

Where is your husband in all this btw?

Thanks for your advise. The whole situation is screwed up. Three seperate checks are not possible, I talked to my former realtor about it. We are still figuring this out.

Worries after worries... what happens if she leaves on the 10th but doesn't return the keys or just one (we have two)? And she comes back to the house? Can I call the police for trespassing or not such a good idea? I would also call our landlord and take her off the lease as a depended to make sure. Would that be possible?
