i don't want to live with my parents in law :( but for some people they don't a choice.. i know it's not easy to live with your mother in law in the same house ... i don't know what's the problem between you two but consider sitting down and having a heart-to-heart talk with her. Pick your moment carefully. Think about what you are going to say ahead of time and Get your husband's support..did your husband know about this??

but i agree with everybody else..just move out from your in laws as soon as you can.. it will save your marriage and it will avoid you from another conflicts...

if your husband loves you, he won't leave you alone..

best of luck :)

Thing is, we are all on the lease. My hubby, my MIL and me. So I want her to leave but she won't go. I know for sure she cannot pay the rent on her own. Is it possible to call the landlord and tell her that my hubby and me are moving out so we're getting out of the lease? We'd just get something cheaper. I just don't want to go into dept because of her (in case we cannot take the names off). And I really cannot see myself living with her any longer. So much drama :(

Yes my husband knows about this and he said he would choose me over her. That's why she's so upset. She has been treating me badly lately. She gave me the silent treatment over nothing really and stopped supporting me with food (I was starving). I have enough. I actually apologized several times already and even if we talked and made up, I cannot see myself living with her under one roof.

Thanks all for your support.

So my mother in law is angry at me for whatever reason. Now she wants to call her brother, my sponser to cancel the sponsorship. I called USCIS yesterday and they confirmed that he can apply for this but it will most likey still be enforced by the goverment.

So are there any cases where the sponsorship is withdrawn and I have to leave? Right now I'm having a pretty good job and could support my husband and me well. I'm the alien resident.

Urrrrrrrrr mother in law nastiness, been there and done that!

No it can't be withdrawn at this stage. That cow's done left the barn as the saying goes.

Good luck, chow!

He can cancel the sponseoship but if you can support the both of you and meet the government requirements for income then you can become your own sponsor.

No, he cannot, as roughly a dozen people have stated. The AOS is a binding contract; the only way it can ever be cancelled is if the green card holder loses their greencard or becomes a US citizen.

look up the recipe for exlax-imbued brownies - make some, offer to her as an apology.

She'll be out of your hair for the next 48 hours.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I know you're joking but in case people reading don't think so - just a reminder that this could be considered poisoning someone, and could be considered assault. So don't do this. It's just a joke.

Support cannot be pulled at this stage (with the GC approved).

How long is left in the lease? Who pays the rent? How did you end up starving if she keep food from you and you are able to support you and your husband well? Was this prior to getting a job?

Your husband is the one who should be "controlling" his mother. If she's being a ######, HE tells her to quit it. You said he supports you but if he did you would have moved out by now. He either tells her to get out, or he tells her both you and your husband are leaving.

I have been where you are. At the time I didn't have a job (was waiting for my GC) and she and her daughter were being utter cows to me. We were only living there at HER insistence whilst waiting to close on the purchase of a house. She was perfectly nice to be in the beginning. She threatened to call the sheriff and have us arrested for trespassing (following an argument she had with my husband) so we moved out that day. My husband hasn't spoken to her in 2 1/2 years. I've spoken to her in passing maybe twice (at his sisters wedding). We stayed there far too long. We tolerated the bad behaviour too long. Get away from her asap and hopefully your relationship can eventually be repaired.

Am right that a sponsorship responsibility automatically ceases once the beneficiary becomes US citizen?

Yes.

There is 19 months left on the lease. We called the realtor and found out that only my hubby's and my name are on this lease, not hers. I was starving and with no food because I let her borrow money all the time so I couldn't even have a say on how it's spent. I talked to her about this yesterday and she tried to make me feel guilty when she said that she always went out to eat with us and so forth. But I just want to have a say how our money is spent. We told her today that she has to leave and she agreed on that. Of course not without a fight.

Great news!! Hopefully you start feeling better soon. Living in that environment is not fun.
