I am toying with the idea of going to GZO for my wife's interview. Originally I had hoped to get her here before new year's but we got delayed, etc. Anyway the date is now 12/12 for the interview. Can we get the visa quicker if we pick it up in GZO?

I could maybe swing taking vacation a little earlier and go to GZO and meet her. If I did that it would make more sense to fly us both back from GZO which we could do if we could get the visa there. Is this possible?

OK. So it looks like you can pick it up at some local PO in GZO. How much time, if any would that save compared to waiting for it to arrive in Xi'an? What is the quickest way to get the visa in hand. I am really trying to get my wife here at some time during the holidays and/or visit and return with her by the 1st.

You might save 2 or 3 days at most. EMS is pretty quick.

SO just to be sure. You can get EMS to send it to a post office in Xi'an and then she can pick it up there. Her hometown is not in a delivery region but she can stay in Xi'an.

The Mailroom at Guangzhou IV will bundle up the casefile and the visa,

and send it WHERE EVER the address label says to go.

There are exceptions - ie - if it's not deliverable by EMS, EMS doesn't go there, then of course she can't get it at that address.

So, plan accordingly.

it usually takes about a month for her to get the visa after passed interview. i dont recommend picking up because i have heard a few people here had terrible experience in picking up visa - major delays and fiasco. fyi, there is a strong association between pickup visa and major delays and massive spending.

It takes a month! I thought it was ~ 1 Week + shipping. These people are #######. I am so sick of these BS delays, especially when we lost 2 months due to mistakes made by them already.

Your timeline shows you getting it in 1 week. Though you also filed 3 weeks later than me and are done. We have been very, very unlucky.

Update: Yes it is possible. My wife passed the interview on Thursday and picked up her visa the following Monday. It turned out that this was easier than arranging it to be sent to Xi'an because she lived in a town that is 3 hours away with no direct delivery service.
