Hi All,

My Fiance was deployed last week on his 7th deployment to Afghanistan with the US Air Force. Before he left he sent our I-129f Package and spoke to the legal team on base. Hopefully my visa will be expedited due to the circumstances of his deployment etc. One of our close friends will be checking his mail for the NOA1 and my fiance has been told to ring someone (cant remember who now) when this has arrived in order for my visa to be expedited.

Has anyone else had their partner deploy while their visa is being processed?? It's not exactly convenient since he wont be back in the US till March but does anyone know HOW an expedited visa is processed. With all the worry/stress of him being deployed and not getting to speak to him as much as normal im now panicking about the Visa :(

A difficult time for you I'm sure, we all appreciate your man's service to our country. An expedited application is processed as any other, just faster.

If he is now deployed until sometime in March why are you asking for an expedite? Also, did he provide you with the documents you will need for your interview before he deployed?

We asked about expediting it and the legal team on base told him to call once the NOA1 had been received even though they knew he was deployed. Our communication hasnt been exactly great at the moment with him on missions etc hence why im panicking. I was in the states a few days before he deployed and before he sent the package so I have a few things but anything else can be sent to me anything via our close friends.

Thank you. I am very proud of him :) and I know he enjoys serving his country.

USCIS has military assist area, although I am not in the military.

USCIS has established a toll-free military help line, 1-877-CIS-4MIL (1-877-247-4645), exclusively for members of the military and their families. USCIS customer service specialists are available to answer calls Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. (CST), excluding federal holidays.

After-hours callers will receive an email address that they can use to contact USCIS for assistance. Callers will receive assistance with immigration-related information, such as:

  • Tracking their Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.
  • Notifying USCIS of a new mailing address or duty station.
  • Checking the status of any other application or petition.
  • Bringing a spouse, fiancé, or adopted child to the United States.
  • Obtaining posthumous citizenship for a deceased member of the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • Submitting an application for expedited processing.

Members of the U.S. armed forces and their families stationed in the United States or overseas may access the help line using the toll-free number through their base telephone operator or using the Defense Switched Network (DSN).

Operators will ask members of the general public to call our main customer service line available under the "Contact Us" link to the right.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

Thank you for the information. I gather my Fiance may or may not have been given that number but I'm not sure. Hopefully I will be speaking to him tonight. Would I be able to ring that number as I am his fiancee or will they direct me to the general public number??
