After 5 long months, the date of the final visa interview has been set. Our final stop is the US embassy in Buenos Aires for the K1 visa interview. What I wanted to know is how heavily proof of intending marriage is considered. We have plenty of emails, records of calling card purchases, photos of us together, with her family from both trips to Argentina (August of last year and this past January). I am also planning on attending the interview which is set for March 31st.

Is proof of wedding plans required for the K1 visa to be issued? Will the they the CO hold that against us if we don't have any firm plans? ie: wedding invitations, plans, receipts, rings.....etc? We do plan on getting married, but don't want to make any firm plans until we have the visa in hand.

We had no proof of wedding plans at our K-1 interview and we got approved with no problem. They did ask us when we planned on getting married and we had set a date, but hadn't started any of the planning yet.

Just tell them that you intend to marry within the 90 days after your entry, but a firm date has not been set yet or a place for the wedding.

Evidence of wedding plans are not required, but may bolster the evidence that you have a valid relationship.

asleeper,

Proof of wedding plans is not as significant as proof that the wedding is bonafide - not intended for the purpose of evading US immigration law.

Many people do not have firm wedding plans prior to the issuance of the visa - indeed, the DoS recommends against making any firm plans until a visa has been issued.

they did ask at the interview if we had a date. i just told them, as soon as i get there and get settled in. and they said OKAY. so i wouldn't worry about such things. as yodrak said, they usually advise you not to make too many concrete plans, as you never know if there will be RFEs, delays, backlogs or whatever else.
