I wouldn't recommend it. Get approved at the interview, get the visa in hand, and then book your flight.

Interview: October 24, 2012 - Review | Visa Delivered: October 31, 2012



Part Two: Entry and Adjusting Status:

POE: November 18, 2012 (at SFO) - Review
Wedding: December 1, 2012 | Social Security: New cards received on December 7, 2012.
AOS Package (I-485/I-765/I-131) NOA1: February 19, 2013 | Biometrics Appt.: March 18, 2013
AP/EAD Approved: April 29, 2013 | Card Received: May 6, 2013 | AOS Interview Appt.: May 16, 2013 - Approved Review Card Received: May 24, 2013

i agree..in my experience, my hubby bought the ticket after i got my visa in my passport

* March 7th 2012 --> Got NOA1 by SMS (Vermont Service Center)

* March 14th 2012 --> Got Hardcopy of I-797C in the airmail

We bought the ticket after my visa was approved. Like the previous member said: First get approved, get the visa and then get your flight ticket.

Could be close... my visa took 2 weeks to arrive after getting approved.

NVC Received : 2012-07-23

NVC Left : 2012-07-25

Consulate Received : 2012-08-08

Packet III Received : 2012-08-09

Packet III Sent : 2012-08-18

Medical in London : 2012-09-03

Packet III Logged by Embassy : 2012-19-03

Interview Date : : 2012-10-12 APPROVED!

POE :

Wedding [Planned] : 2013-01-26

I would suggest that you should wait for the visa in hand before booking the flight because that happened to me before.My husband booked a flight after I got approved with my interview.I had my interview March 15,2012.He booked a flight March 27 and on the same day I received my visa.But still I have to get the CFO sticker.What we did was to rebook the flight on March 30 which cost 300USD more for the rebooking fee.

Sure, go ahead....just be prepared to cancel or reschedule and incur any costs to do so.

It's only money.

Statistically speaking you probably save more money by buying the tickets now than by loosing a change fee in the unlikely event that you don't have your visa within 24 days after the interview. The tickets might become expensive by more than the $300 change fee close to Christmas if you wait till the last minute.

The price goes up after the 8th/9th of December as this is when it's considered "peak season".

05 Feb 2011 - We decided to be an exclusive relationship

29 Jun 2011 - We met for the first time. It was exactly as I knew it would be!

14 Jul 2011 - He had to leave to go back to USA

17 Jul 2011 - Booked flights for me to go to USA for 3 months on VWP

29 Nov 2011 - Arrived in USA

25 Dec 2011 - HE PROPOSED!

21 Feb 2012 - Left USA for Australia

16 Apr 2012 - NOA1

08 Aug 2012 - RFE

11 Sep 2012 - CSC received RFE documentation

11 Sep 2012 - Did Police Clearance

18 Sep 2012 - NOA 2

26 Sep 2012 - NVC sent case to consulate

16 Oct 2012 - Packet 3 received

18 Oct 2012 - Sent DS-230 off to Sydney Consulate

01 Nov 2012 - Medical completed

07 Nov 2012 - Packet 3 Sent to Consulate

08 Nov 2012 - Packet 3 Delivered

15 Nov 2012 - Packet 4 Received

18 Dec 2012 - Interview APPROVED!

28 Dec 2012 - Entered USA POE:- LAX

09 Jan 2013 - Married
