Yes NVC REQUIRES Original or a certified copy of the original. Like in my case. No way they having my original marriage certificate. So my husband hs to go to the registry and get a copy the governing body there (magistrate) will stamp , sign whatever now its a certified copy of the original. Same with the birth certificate.

Got case complete on the 1st. When should I start calling about an interview date? And should I call the NVC or the DOS.

Also, I will move out of my apartment in early December and live with my parents for the rest of my time in Germany. Do I have to notify the NVC of the address change or only the embassy?

Start calling on Monday! And call both the NVC and DOS.

And no real need to notify anyone, as long as NVC has both email addresses on file. If so, the interview letter will be emailed to you.

If Germany mails back your visa upon approval, then yes, you'll need to notify them of your updated address. Just bring an updated DS-230 with you to the interview and that should suffice.

Thank you!

I know I have to bring a prestamped envelope to the interview in which the passport will be mailed back. Isn't that sufficient for the address change since the envelope will have the correct address? Or do they need my interim address for anything else? Everything after the move will be my husbands address of course as it was already put in our documents.

Oh, if Germany requires an envelope, then that should be sufficient.

Okay, yes, at least that is what I have read so far. What I haven't quite understood yet is how that goes together with the envelope the embassy provides that we aren't allowed to open. Do I get that at the embassy? Or do they mail that too? If they mail it I would have to make sure my envelope is big enough for their envelope.... it is all so confusing.

Oh, for the DOS - will they talk to me as the beneficiary? And is there anything in particular I have to tell them? What role do they play in the interview assignment?

The sealed envelope is mailed back to you along with your passport with the visa inside. So, yes, make sure you don't bring a small envelope, but a big enough one. I'm sure on the embassy's site, they list what size envelope they need.

And yes, they most definitely will talk to you as the beneficiary. I was the only one that called NVC and DOS (m husband has/had a full-time job, thus no time to call), so I did all the calling. Never had a problem. When they pick up, just tell them you want to know if an interview date has been assigned. They'll then ask for your case number. They have no role in scheduling the interview, they just have access to the database which can tell them if one has been assigned or not.

Okay, great.

I am not finding info about the envelope on the embassy website but I am sure I will get the info with the interview letter or I can call them now that I know I will have to make sure it has to fit more than just my passport.

I am getting really antsy about the interview date. Hoping that they will schedule it soon so I can schedule my medical and know when I can finally go home to be with my hubby.

If you can't find anything on the embassy page, look under the embassy info here on VJ. They sometimes list stuff like that. If not, then look under the regional forums and do a search.

I just received a very interesting email from Frankfurt embassy. I had asked them about the availability of interviews this month. They replied that they do not provide available dates to the NVC but that the NVC just comes up with the dates and tells the embassies. Does that seem odd to anyone else? If that is true, then what is the NVC doing telling us they have to wait for dates from each consulate?
