I guess I belong in this group sent my DS-230 package on Wednesday (11/21/2012) and through tracking it through the mail, NVC received it on Friday(11/23/2012) morning at 10:30am. I called on Friday night to see if they looked at it yet, and the girl said no. I might be a bit eager. I am going to TRY and refrain from calling until Friday (11/30/2012). Try being the key word.

Up until the IV bill we have done everything at our own pace, so don't freak out when you see our timeline. We had major financial difficulties which hindered us from going at a steady pace. We are now in a position to move forward. IV Bill and beyond will hopefully go quickly.

When did you return the IV package to NVC? Trying to figure out where they are in processing THANKS!

We sent the IV package on October 23rd. We had to resubmit my husband's original certified birth certificate, so it took a little longer than some. Good luck! I would suggest calling them frequently. And, compliment them when they are nice on the phone. I spoke to Sage today and she is really nice! (We need to reinforce the nice behavior because some are a little snippy with us. )

When did you submit your DS230 and AOS?

We submitted the AOS on October 4th and the DS230 on October 23rd. Good luck!

Wow! Congradulations! :) We also have a definite case complete now. After reading more here, it seems this is according to each Embassy's process and the type of Visa petitioned for. We are CR-1 and from what I understand, Moscow does it's own AP (Administrative Process) on these types of Visa. I have no idea how in depth that will be but I would be very surprised if we have Interview in December. As much as I really want my Wife here with me at this point it is probably better for me to go to Russia after December 25 anyway (Protestant Christmas, New Years, and then Orthodox Christmas pretty much closes down the end of December and beginning of January in both Nations). I am Orthodox Christian, as is my Wife, so I am thinking if our Interview is after January 9 it would be perfect timing for us anyway. I plan to go early and share at least Christmas if the timing works. This is a really difficult part of the journey..timing the travel and making sure all the paperwork is ready for any and all questions.

Average at Moscow Embassy does seem to be around 1 month or so after NVC complete on CR-1. I'm takin my GOOD snow boots!

Grats! If you want to try, you can request for an earlier interview date from the embassy in Mumbai. Worth a shot :)

Hey saylin thank u I was wondering how I could go about checking if I can get an earlier interview date?

Once your case arrives at the embassy/consulate, contact them (either by email or phone) and simply request for an earlier date.

OK so the realtor came by yesterday to have a loot at my apartment. I got a good vibe, feels like he will do a good job. Plus my uncle knows him so it's good to have that connection. I don't think I'll get screwed. We were on the same page regarding the starting price, which also felt good, I was a little worried he would evaluate it and set the price lower than my expectations. It remains to be seen whether I will get that, though, but at least it feels good where we're at right now.

I've started looking at flights. I have a question. Seeing as how return flights are generally (a lot) cheaper, can I book a return flight or do I have to book a single trip ticket? I mean, I won't be using the return ticket (assuming POE goes according to plan), but maybe I can just cancel the return ticket at a later date after POE? What do you guys think?

There could be two reasons -

a) you are approved way too ahead of others. There are several others whose priority date is before yours and are waiting

for their interviews to be scheduled

b) because we had two holidays i.e., veterans day and thanksgiving, so they might be little backed up

Either case, if I were you I wouldnt worry too much, since you got I130 approved in 2 months (which you should

consider very very lucky).

Generally speaking you can cancel the return flight and keep it as a credit (expedia allows this) to be used in your name only. They charge you a fee ($150) to change flights so just be aware of that as well. If the difference between the two tickets is $150 or less, I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm a little surprised that return tickets are cheaper! It's always cheaper for me to fly one way, but it would be more expensive if to book two one way tickets.
