I called DOS to see if they would give me a better idea of what the NVC problem was last week and was told our case is still within NVC. Already knew that..so no new info. :( At this point DOS is no help to us. Later for Interview they will be I presume.

Yesterday I called NVC and asked to have our case reviewed by Supervisor or at least a Visa Specialist as Saylin suggested. I was told they do not really have that there(Wow! No boss?? now that is a really good job!).

Anyway...the person on the phone excused herself and was gone off the line for a while. Came back on the phone and told me the problem was on the "dreaded" line 25 of the I-864. I made a typo on the digits on income. Oooo.. NOT good!! :bonk:

The person told me what the number SHOULD have been. I confirmed and yes..I transposed on the last three digets on income. I had 116 and not 166, the latter being correct. My bad!!

Soooo..redo the I-864 (I did)..hot foot it to the post office to Express mail to New Hampshire after all the coversheet and barcode sheet again (done). NVC will have the new and improved I-864 tomorrow at noon.. about the time they all go to the Thanksgiving pot luck.

The frustrating deal about this is that until yesterday I had NO idea of the exact problem. They also said (again) that my Wifes Uzbekistan Police Report was not yet received. That is not true (I have proof it is in the building). The fact is that NVC has not yet provided this required document to the examiner who has the file on hold, therefore I keep getting Checklist notices (which are now false).

I am with all of you being frustrated in how the paperwork is sent and yet it takes weeks for the record to show you did send the requested documents. We can we do about this? Nothing much....wait....and support each other and be genuinely happy when others finally get through this maze.

Looks like Moscow Interview in January if we're lucky. Wanna bet there will be snow on the sidewalks at the Embassy?

First off, I never suggested a visa specialist at NVC. They don't have those. They have operators, reviewing officers, and supervisors. You want a supervisor at NVC. The operators at DOS on the other hand are called visa specialists (although sometimes I wonder about that term...)

But anyways, glad you got it figured out. You have to be extremely careful with numbers on the I-864 as NVC will issue a checklist for incorrect ones, as you've seen. This is why I ALWAYS suggest having someone outside the case review the paperwork and make sure everything's correct. They may catch an error as they haven't looked at the papers over and over again like the petitioner and beneficiary.

And once an officer gets to the police report, it'll show up in the systems, so they'll be able to tell you it's been received. Until then though, operators don't know of it being received whatsoever.

Saylin.. on your removal of conditions. One of my partners is married to a Singapore Lady. They just recently (last week) went for the required removal of conditions at the Seattle USCIS, and were told that 6 to 9 MONTHS, not Weeks, MONTHS!! she would get her "new card"...well..well.. isn't that special?

In that time she could simply go to N-400 at the minumum three years...so the point being we are all required to remove conditions (at 2 years) which will take about the same time as naturalization. We looked..N-400 is about $800. My friend Dave brought up this fact to the USCIS officer and was told "yes...we are aware of this" with a smile and told.. pretty much take a hike and come back (with more cash) in 12 months for the N-400. Bye bye.

They were wanting to go to visit family over Christmas but decided maybe now that is maybe not the best idea. Let us know what you discover on your January/February experience with Adjustment of Status please.

If you look around this site, it's clear that ROC is taking awhile. It's unfortunate, but it's nothing to get upset over. You can still travel with the expired green card and the NOA extension letter.

In some cases that take awhile, filing for naturalization kicks the ROC to be accepted right away. It's just a part of the immigration process.

And I'll be filing for ROC in February, not AOS. Be careful with your terms.

The address is on the cover sheet ;) What exactly are you getting ready with the cover sheet? You just print it out and attach it to the package!

Maybe you're referring to the cover LETTER?

Yes, that is exactly what I meant, I am using a draft shared by a VJ member and just wan to make sure the address (suite #) or Att. hasn't changed, I am making all the copies for all the AOS and IV pack.

Already have 2 copies (one for applicant and one for me) of the AOS.

And 3 copies of the IV (one to send with originals, one for applicant and one for me).

Comes in handy to work in a office, but I have piles of paper and folders in front of me.

I want to be at the point where once I pay i just need to print the barcode sheet make copies (only barcode page) and put a top the piles ready to ship.

I'll be sure to let my wife know that the ROC probably will take a while...she has already stated that naturalization is her goal asap. I told her no problem..I'll be there every step of the way to help. And yes..your correct that it was my error on the I-864. my bad for sure!! I hope they don't eat too much at the potluck tomorrow in Portsmouth. :pop: or watchin the clock too much :clock::D Thank you again Saylin for your assist.
