I called NVC to know the status of our case and I was suprised to hear when I was told they are still waiting for the DS230! My husband mailed it last Nov 7th and it was delivered on the 9th! I'm sure it was sent to the right address, does this happen? My husband is still sleeping for sure and I don't want to wake him up with a question, instead I just emailed him the situation..so I'll just go to bed with this thought in my head, hopefully when I wake up hubby has an update!

the operator said they don't have IIN yet to give this time and wait 10 -20 days, they will send instructions by email.

are we going to wait 10 -20 days for IIN?unsure.gif

i can't imagine waiting another 20 days for just IIN?

It doesn't show as received on their computers until they start reviewing it. So, the IV package is in the building, it just hasn't reached an officer's desk yet. No worries!

Call back again later today and ask for it. Most people get it at the same time as their case number. If you get an operator that doesn't want to tell you, just hang up and try again. Some operators are finicky, for whatever reason, about giving the IIN.

Is it worth it to call NVC after calling DOS or will they just say the same thing?

It's always worth calling! Your interview could have been scheduled in between :)

I called DOS to see if they would give me a better idea of what the NVC problem was last week and was told our case is still within NVC. Already knew that..so no new info. :( At this point DOS is no help to us. Later for Interview they will be I presume.

Yesterday I called NVC and asked to have our case reviewed by Supervisor or at least a Visa Specialist as Saylin suggested. I was told they do not really have that there(Wow! No boss?? now that is a really good job!).

Anyway...the person on the phone excused herself and was gone off the line for a while. Came back on the phone and told me the problem was on the "dreaded" line 25 of the I-864. I made a typo on the digits on income. Oooo.. NOT good!! :bonk:

The person told me what the number SHOULD have been. I confirmed and yes..I transposed on the last three digets on income. I had 116 and not 166, the latter being correct. My bad!!

Soooo..redo the I-864 (I did)..hot foot it to the post office to Express mail to New Hampshire after all the coversheet and barcode sheet again (done). NVC will have the new and improved I-864 tomorrow at noon.. about the time they all go to the Thanksgiving pot luck.

The frustrating deal about this is that until yesterday I had NO idea of the exact problem. They also said (again) that my Wifes Uzbekistan Police Report was not yet received. That is not true (I have proof it is in the building). The fact is that NVC has not yet provided this required document to the examiner who has the file on hold, therefore I keep getting Checklist notices (which are now false).

I am with all of you being frustrated in how the paperwork is sent and yet it takes weeks for the record to show you did send the requested documents. We can we do about this? Nothing much....wait....and support each other and be genuinely happy when others finally get through this maze.

Looks like Moscow Interview in January if we're lucky. Wanna bet there will be snow on the sidewalks at the Embassy?

Saylin.. on your removal of conditions. One of my partners is married to a Singapore Lady. They just recently (last week) went for the required removal of conditions at the Seattle USCIS, and were told that 6 to 9 MONTHS, not Weeks, MONTHS!! she would get her "new card"...well..well.. isn't that special?

In that time she could simply go to N-400 at the minumum three years...so the point being we are all required to remove conditions (at 2 years) which will take about the same time as naturalization. We looked..N-400 is about $800. My friend Dave brought up this fact to the USCIS officer and was told "yes...we are aware of this" with a smile and told.. pretty much take a hike and come back (with more cash) in 12 months for the N-400. Bye bye.

They were wanting to go to visit family over Christmas but decided maybe now that is maybe not the best idea. Let us know what you discover on your January/February experience with Adjustment of Status please.

Yup :) I have to wait until dec 5 :) but I'm pretty sure my DS-3032 will be accepted this week :)

And hopefully you will get your interview day before thanksgiving :)

laura and alex,

Looks like our DS-3032 is accepted. But I can't pay the IV fee yet. I presume it should be invoiced first.

Summary Information

The next step in the immigration process is for the petitioner to pay the Affidavit of Support processing fee, and for each applicant to pay the immigrant visa application processing fee. To initiate payment, click the 'Pay' link associated with the fee you intend to pay.
