What are the basis for expedite an interview??

It´s up to the discretion/availability of the embaassy I understand. As ullnvrkno says, it usually has to be a severe situation. In our case, it is not life or death, but I sent a request in anyway. If you don´t ask the answer is always no.

ullnvrkno....have they even responded to your request yet?

Guess what... Just got off the phone with NVC and case complete today

Give them a call and let us know

Congrats!

I just called also. No case complete. They have a problem with the original birth certificate.

I do not want to wait 10-15 days because they did not read the stuff we sent. We even sent the certified birth certicate in English for visa purposes per the embassy website. How can I get them to see their dumb mistake??? :bonk:

Nope. NVC re-forwarded the request to the embassy on 11/5. Idk what else I can do. NVC has sent it to them twice now. What could be taking so long?? I wish I knew of a way to contact the embassy but I can't find anything online and the 646# isn't of any help.

For those of you who just got your case complete, go add your info to this thread:

Well, someone needs to do something. This whole process has been one huge set back after another and I'm sick of it.

It has to be a serious matter, like life or death.

LOL chris and laura god bless you, you've been going through this since 8/12. I've been going through this since 6/11. Wait a little longer and THEN talk to me about "expediting an interview."

:) I hope everything will be ok! I'm kinda excited because I saw a girl from Honduras she got an interview just 3 weeks after case complete!! So I will keep praying and praying!! Good luck to you :) you will heard about an interview soon

Haha!! I know I have many questions!! Sorry! But VJ is helping me soooo much!! I'm filling the DS-230 right now because I'm going to send it to my husband tomorrow! So my question is!! I am an student!! I have never work before!! What should I put in the space where ask me about the work information! Because it is in yellow that means I cant put N/A.... Helpppp :/

If you've never worked before, just put 'none' in the first box. That's it.

I'd suggest calling them back and asking for a supervisor to re-review your package.

Thanks Saylin. I will do that. I am thinking the real issue that they have is that my husband, the beneficiary is a Norwegian citizen, but he was born in Sweden and has a Swedish birth certificate. I think it is too much for them to figure out. :bonk:

Unfortunately, I've seen this happen a lot with Sweden/Norway. Definitely explain this to the operator and ask for a supervisor review. That should fix it.

This is probably happening since the procedure recently changed for non-Swedish Scandinavians. The US no longer have visa interviews at their embassies in Norway and Denmark (and possibly Finland, even though Finland is not a Scandinavian country), so applicants from those countries have to go to Stockholm, Sweden for their interview. This seems to have caused misunderstandings with a lot of NVC staff, who are not aware of the change.

Not to be mean, I know we all want to be done as fast as possible, but when people who filed their i-130 in August talk about expediting interviews, it just makes me cringe. Your case is already going much faster than most other people's.

We did call and my husband spoke to the supervisor whom said that she could not tell him what was wrong with the birth certificate that she did not have access to those records. However, my husband just received an email that his certified original birth certificate was not the original. We sent both the original and a copy, like instructions. How do you argue the case for this? Are we going to have to get another certified copy?

I think we are going to try to email a supervisor. Do we just write "attention supervisor" in the subject field?

I don´t think there is anything wrong with wanting to expedite an interview regardless of how long you have been in the process (albeit naive depending on the situation).....no one "deserves" to be with their loved one or to move back home more than anybody else.....

some people have had extremely unfortunate circumstances and that is really heart-wrenching. However, we all should understand eachother since we all have the same ultimate goal. Chris and Laura´s chance at getting expedited is a long-shot...but if they get it I will be happy for them as we all should be happy for each other.
